Coming Back Question

Firstly, I haven’t played D4 since like a month after its launch. I do not like seasonal content and will not be partaking in any of D4’s seasonal realms content. With that being said, have they added new things to the eternal realm from past seasonal content to keep the eternal realm feeling “fresh”?

Kind of like what PoE does for their seasons. When it ends, they will sometimes add the seasonal stuff to their eternal realms. It gives those that don’t want to waste their time with seasonal content something to look forward to and a reason to keep playing.

Season one theme came back as unique rings, season 2 came back as aspects, season 3 will not come back for obivous reasons. Seasons 4 arguably has no theme as all changes are base game changes. So picking up the game now will feel as a completely new experience in both realms.

I think it will. Both D2 and D3 have companions.

Well not right away in S4. But weeell… kindof. Tempering affixes have multishot and effect size increase. But the companion it self will not. And data mines have found followers in VoH expansion files.

wouldnt say that yet. all the additions came in a mid season patch. So who knows, we might see something s3 related again.

Well yeah maybe. But some tempering affixes have functions from tuneing stones. Increased effect size, CDR, chance to shoot additional projectiles.

Loot Reborn changes the entire game, that in itself will add dozens of hours to eternal realm players.

Blizzard have added elements of seasons to the eternal realm, depending how successful something has been. Helltides for example, are basically totally redesigned based on the success of S2. The other seasons there isn’t much to keep, so they added some item stuff but honestly that’s all you would want.

While I like seasons it’s not because of the seasonal content, the borrowed power stuff is often just like Groundhog Day. Its resetting starting again and trying to build something new, that takes good itemisation and class design - with Loot Reborn we are probably close to being halfway there. Hopefully the expansion gets the game over the line.

Well season 4 won’t have a theme but you can bet your a$$ season 5 will so if you don’t like seasons your never going to get the exclusive seasonal content every 3 months. Stick to base eternal or rip

The only thing S4 doesn’t have is seasonal mechanics. Everything else that comes with a season will be there.

Buys game that is about seasons… but hates seasons.

So in other words, There is no reason to run season 4 at all? I get that they were trying to “fix” up the game. But no theme at all seems lacking. Maybe the Diablo 4 team only has two or three people working on it. Would not surprise me because The rule of acquisition demands profit before fun.

Well there will be season exclusive content. But no mechanic that gives you power. The theme is the loot rework and helltide rework, but also those are base changes too comeing to ethernal. I guess they want to see where class balace lands, before they add another layer of power with seasonal mechacis again.

If you only like to play on the Eternal Realm, then your world will change on May 14th. I recommend checking it out. Enjoy.

Season 4 has by far the biggest changes to the game of any season. Those changes are mostly going to be available on Eternal simultaneously, though, which is why the season itself has no special mechanic.

Play another game IMO. Blizzard openly admitted they have thrown everything at Loot Reborn and while it’s annoying they had to do that, it was the right thing to do at this point - hate on the Devs, or recognise they are working to try and improve the game and possibly starting to get some wins.

There is also a season theme just no power mechanic….

It’s not really just about seasons. It’s just what’s come to be expected from the ARPG audience because the most of the ARPG community is okay with it. Believe it or not, Diablo in general has some amazing lore. In past games, the main story was amazing.

How many seasons did Diablo 1 have? You know, the one that started this whole genre. Even Diablo 2 didn’t launch with seasons. It became a thing when the devs didn’t want to actually put time and effort in expansions and content, and seasons was a cost effective, easy way to keep the audience entertained. PoE is the same genre but their “eternal realm” offers ENDLESS gameplay and so much content it’s beyond crazy, AND it’s constantly being updated to add more.

If ya’ll just bought the game for seasons, you got jipped your $70.

Originally, I was going to respond to this as stuff is continually added for Eternal but others addressed this pretty well.

Then it devolved into gamer-man-splaining all your opinions etc. Okay, hope you feel better after lording it over on all the folk you consider ignorant. Just, very lame.

You know, you can just google patch notes from time to time and see if things have changed enough for you in the direction you need to re-enter a game rather than play all these lil mind games to stroke your own ego over a GAME.

ego? I responded to a post with an ego. But you chose to leave that part out. I simply stated I don’t like seasons.

Then someone followed it up with a silly comment.

I know why I bought the game and I in no way feel like I am not getting my value per dollar spent. I LOVED D3 and just got back from playing S31. D3 has given me thousands of hours of value with its seasons and I expect D4 will do the same. I played both D1 and D2 and they were amazing… for that time. They did not age well. This is just my humble opinion. I am not asking for you to share it. D3 is by and far THE most popular of all Diablo titles. From a quick internet search I saw that it has sold over 30 million copies (Though Iggy mentioned it actually over 60 mill copies). There was a reason and that is the seasons. When I decided to jump on D3 to do S31, I have absolutely no issues finding groups of people to play with. While the D2R lobbies are like a ghost town.
Seasons keep me coming back for more. And I am excited for what is coming down the road in D4. If I loved seasons in D3 where they really did not add much story development, just a theme… then I expect that I am going to continue having a great time in D4 since they actually add a story element as well.
Like I said, I specifically bought D4 for seasons and I so far do not regret my purchase. Specially with this new direction they are heading in.
Peace.
