I am trying to play melee rogue centered around combo points and condemnation but it is impossible for me to utilize it.
Sigils that represent combo points are so tiny and in such a spot that i can’t keep track of how many i have (and if it is already 3 to proc condemnation).
I need to constantly shift my focus from the center of the screen where all the fighting is taking place and i try to dodge multiple CC’s to the bottom of the screen to look at those 3 tiny sigils if they are filled up, also it is not possible to learn the pace of it filling up because condemnation has a %chance to give all 3 at once.
Something really has to be changed if you want us to use it as intended, either in UI or maybe sound cue?
Yeah, the bottom-only interface really isn’t ideal. I wish we had a little overly with health / ressource bars and combo points directly below the character.
Was going to post about this issue. There really should be an option to show combo points on or above your character so that you can keep focus on the center of the screen and not have to keep your eyes fixated on the bottom. Condemnation is a great item, but whereas I could just play 1-2-3-TB 1-2-3-TB 1-2-3-TB… now I have to make sure I don’t overcap and spend my CP when I get a lucky proc. Great in concept, terrible due to the interface.
Something else I’ve noticed, and I really feel like I’m going crazy. There is some kind of flashy animation that happens on the CP bar for some reason, but it flashes the entire bar, even when you don’t have 3CP. This animation makes it virtually impossible to tell how many CP you have. The strangest thing is I have no idea what sets off this animation, it seems to be semi permanent, with me having to deal with it fore whole dungeons at a time and then suddenly out of nowhere it stops and I can finally clearly see my CP… well… until it starts again. I’ve begun to just spam my buttons at random now not even caring about CP because the enjoyment of playing well is just nothing compared to the hassle of dealing with this terrible interface.
There should be some audio cue instead so we don’t have to look, we can just hear it!
I wish it had a display similar to the paladin in wow where the combo points are right below your character. Makes it super easy to keep track of in the clutter, and also, I wouldn’t have to look nearly a foot down every time lol.
hey Blizzard Devs, read this ^^^
I’m glad you guys mentined.
BLIZZ read this ![]()
The Diablo 2 Assassin had a combo system where combo orbs spawned around the character, and it was very easy to see current combo point count while keeping an eye on the action.
Good to see progress in the last 20 years!
+1! Please, do it devs!
I know it doesn’t solve the initial problem that you are having, but I wanted to share my personal experience using Condemnation. I just found that going back and forth between the basic attack and the core attack works the best for me. So I don’t even look at the combo points at all.
I do the same. But the fact that blizz didn’t give us an option to put it in the middle of the screen makes me feel like they haven’t even played the game at all, which is confusing
The UI in general is just bad.
This is just another example.
I end up staring at the bottom of my huge tv at the combo bar and miss everything else, its stupid
Could clearly be better, but also possible just to count or spam the button because attack speed so fast to get to full combo points.
100% agree with you, this is really uncomfortable to track. Would be better to see it higher and bigger. Most of all the animation should be less shiny when combo bar is filling.
My suggestion is ![]()
1- bigger combo bar and higher on screen, may be on top of the head of our character.
2 - a standard animation when it adds a point, no shiny twinkling for 1 and 2 combo points. Just go from grey to yellow
3 - twinkling only at 3 points and may be switch all points to orange when full.
An other option, add weakaura to D4 (i’m joking of course)
I have 2 thoughts on this until they actually fix it.
- Stop thinking of the dagger as a thing that might instantly fill your points. Just think of it as a 40% damage boost. You are likely also using the basics increase core up to 30% so. 1-2-3 boom 30%+40%.
Or
- Go 1-2 boom and play the odds. Sometimes you’ll waste 1 attack when the first attack fills and sometimes you’ll boom with only 2 combo points, but mathematically you’ll be hitting the 3 more often than not and not over commit your basics.
Agree, that’s my thought too about the unique dagger. 1-2 boom is probably the best statistic usage of it if you don’t want to bother tracking combo points. I wait the day i will drop it to make some test. Unfotunately my friends already got it 3 times and i don’t. Still think that unique will need a bad luck protection system by the way, or being tradable with friends you played with, like D3.
Yes for 1-2 boom, and that’s what I’ve been doing too.
Condemnation’s design is not intelligent, unfortunately. It should have been a flat 1-hit or 2-hits to fill up the gauge kind of thing.
However, that means we also stop generating resources, so that’s another aspect that needs to be considered.
Alternatively, it could ‘store’ beyond 3 combo points.
ULTRAAA COMBOOOOOOOOO sentence
