This situation is still here, even after all the phases of testing in which I reported it as a problem.
I know there are other topics talking about this, but this needs more visibility.
That is a VERY large amount of frustrated wasted time that keeps. on. happening.
Four times now this has happened to me. I search the entire map of the dungeon twice over, and am missing one mob or a single animus orb that isn’t anywhere.
Needs to be hotfixed. From now on when I go into a dungeon and see that box to tick, I’ll just leave.

I’ve seen discussion elsewhere that the problem might stem from having the first animus carrier wander forward, such that you kill it before entering the zone and having the animus meter appear. You don’t get credit for animus carriers killed before the meter appears, and the dungeon then becomes impossible to complete.
Needless to say, this is a really frustrating time wasting bug, and easily my top request for a fix at this point. Please find a fix - either start the animus counter (invisibly) when entering the dungeon instead of the area and just make it visible while in the area, or scan the area for unkilled animus carriers and fix up the counter when it starts.

Bumping this happened to me today as well. I think its exactly what you’re saying

You’re not missing anything. There are times when I’m in a dungeon and I kill the Animus Carrier almost as soon as I see it. As a result, the Carrier doesn’t drop the Animus nodes and you get stuck in the dungeon. It’s happened to me almost a dozen times so far. The soft workaround is to pause for a few seconds when you see a carrier on the map and not nuke it instantly.

Happened to me, bump for fix.
Has happened to me twice in the last week, most recently today in Oldstones. This is one of the most annoying dungeon mechanics in the game. Just make it so if all the carriers are dead, the last one you kill gives you enough purple blobs.

This has happened 3 times in the last 24 hrs. Guulrahn Slums and Bloodsoaked Crag last night and just now I had it happen in Betrayer’s Row. All 3 times, I’m one mob short of the animus needed to open the final door. This has been a known issue Blizz…
Also, all three times, there were 2-3 animus carriers with mobs and not all animus dropped as I cleared with shadow imbuement, poison imbuement, etc.

Shocker but this is still an issue. Happened in Overgrown Grotto.
Bumping because it just happened. Can’t find any mob in the whole map. Frustrating to waste that time.
This just happened to me too. I killed everything, was missing maybe 1/50th of my animus bar, had no blue dots on the map to indicate a missed piece of animus, backtracked for like 20 minutes all over the place trying to figure out what I missed, couldn’t find any animus or living mobs, came to forums and found this thread.

Was the Butcher there? Some people are saying that the Butcher spawning might be the cause of this.
For me, yes. I killed the butcher in one of my last packs of mobs before having the dungeon cleared. Maybe it is butcher related!

Adding mine, Shifting City. The Butcher wasn’t there, none of the animus carriers moved to a different room before I killed them, I just didn’t have enough animus to complete the dungeon. I wandered around looking for any I missed before I checked google to see if it was a known bug.
Anyone have a list of dungeons that don’t have this mechanic? Theres no point in doing any with animus carriers until this bug is fixed.

Happened to me in shifting city as well.
Hello,
same problem here, played today - collect animus - and 1 Enemy is missing (the coward)
This just happened to me in Lost Mines. What a MASSIVE waste of time. I went over the dungeon twice and couldn’t find anything left to clear and had to leave unfinished.
I won’t be doing any more dungeons that have this broken design.
Same here, just wasted a bunch of time running in circles around Corrupted Grotto (tier 4), can’t find the last bit of animus. Second time this has happened, last time was in a group, nobody could find the missing animus.
Dead Man’s Dredge just in this moment, looks as if I am missing one animus ball, but I circled back everywhere and nothing’s left on the ground. Can’t progress.
My suggestion: add a check for killed monsters. If all of them are killed, override animus bar state filling it up automatically. Making balls spawn, and adding their values to fill up the bar still fails, so just make simple background monster count which serves as a backup to make the dungeon doable.
