Cold Enchanted Affix

Seen other posts about this issue, but thought I would throw in my two cents.

What is the counter play to Cold Enchanted elites? I run high cold resist, with a poton (~75% Cold Resist) and I’m getting completely blasted by this one affix alone.

I run Werewolf Druid with Wolf Companions, and it feels that I can’t do anything in melee range or else I get cleaved down by Cold Enchanted’s splash AoE on every hit, which mind you, chains from my wolves onto me and back. My health goes from 100% to <30% almost instantly and I have to ALWAYS use Earthen Bulwark (Also gets deleted) and Grizzly Rage for the Unstoppable effects, even still its close.

If certain enemies get this affix, its almost impossible to kill them efficiently as I have to kite/run away until CDs come back. One instance is of Cold Enchanted Ghouls (They attack insanely fast) and I was just frozen 90% of the time and dying.

Add a cooldown to the freeze and make “cold resist” actually do something other than lower the damage, also make it lower the chances to be frozen.

Sincerely,

A frozen Druid.

This is a big problem, it makes melee builds near impossible to play and there’s nothing worse than running into cold enchanted mobs and spending the next 60 seconds watching your life slowly drain to 0

  • Another frozen Druid

There is none. Their damage is WAY higher than all other enchants AND they slow/stun you every few hits. It’s beyond awful and super poorly designed.

Agree, I play a necromancer and it is practically impossible to stop the frozen chain once it has started. It is especially difficult with fast attacking range elites. The proc chance of this affix seems to be way to high.
Like it is, it is not fun to play against.
One solution I would propose I for the affix to have an internal CD. Let’s say that an elite frozes you, once the froze is finished neither that elite nor other elites can froze you in the next 5-10 s. This leaves room for reaction will keeping the affix pretty strong

You need unstoppable to counter act it. AS a bear i do have my ultimate+shield which provides unstoppable. I have to kill him during that unstoppable period if not I’m almost toast.

There’s also elixirs that give you 1 second unstoppable if you pop it, and also some aspects that grant a shield if you get damaged while CC’d.

Frost is broken though imo, because when you are caught with your pants down, you will be frozen forever until your hp goes to 0, there is no counter play.

Still not an excuse for blizzard to design an enchant where the simple addition of this enchant to any mob, regardless of level, makes it a tier 99 enemy…

I’ve encountered lvl 100 people who gothit in an oversight by one of these mobs on LOW LEVEL nightmare dungeons (like a lvl 100 running a tier 1 nm) and simply get killed by it if they didn’t act fast enough…that’s just downright insane…

I just did a Tier 19 dungeon with the lightning bubble mechanic…
A frozen skittering abomination does MORE DAMAGE with it’s NORMAL ATTACK than the dungeon mechanic does… it nearly ONE SHOTS my bear druid who has some 70% cold resistance… That’s just BS

Oh and considdering those abominations hit TWICE with their normal melee that does in fact mean that if I get hit by those mobs I’m simply dead… unstoppable doesn’t help against a mob who can simply oneshot you due to a enchant…

At minimum if blizzard refuses to budge much on enemy CC, then perhaps cold attacks should just slow movement speed and never freeze.

Honestly they should disable stuns and freezes as a hot fix right now until they properly rework things

I think you mean a popsicle…

Oracle and their eyes are another OP CC that locks us down. Getting multiple Oracles at once is a sure way to get CC locked.

the worst i’ve ever encountered was suppressive/vampiric/frost/fortified. Literally unkillable.

Just ran into an Elite Spider with Cold/ Suppressor/ Poison enchantment.

He was standing a little before the end boss of the dungeon. I can’t tell you how frustrated it was to die 4 times in a row against this. Every single hit freezes you and as a necro (blood Surge/blood Lance) I’d Kite/run but with the suppressor enchantment …

Sincerely,
A frozen Necromancer.
