Climbing in the pit is lame AF

Kinda done with the season, so I thought I’d go for the 150 pit achievement. I’m at tier 147 on my Rogue and it’s long past being fun. I can only imagine what the actual health pool of these bosses is, but it seems to be in the quadrillions.

On top of that, once in a while I just get one-shotted by seemingly innocuous attacks. Other times I get one-shotted by nothing at all. Playing it back in slow motion I still cannot tell what killed me.

If this is the centerpiece of the endgame in the expansion, D4’s in big trouble.

Tier 147 is way better then what i can do on my necro. My minions are ok It’s me that dies all the time and I’m maxed out defense. I think tier 147 is great acivement.

Thanks. Andariel’s Barrage is really built for this type of gameplay. Crazy survivability, crazy single target damage. I topped out around 140 on my Lightning Spear Sorc. Just not enough single target damage. Andariel’s is much better in the pit in my experience.

It’s just crazy to me that they thought this would be a fun game mode. Spend 3-4 minutes getting to the boss and then spend 10+ minutes fighting this absolute damage sponge. I’m doing billions of DPS - BILLIONS - and the fight is still 10+ minutes. It’s the antithesis of fun.

They probably did not.
They know the large majority of players probably won’t engage with anything past tier 61 or so (and thats why there is basically no progression system helping you go much higher) and just wanted to use the opportunity to keep the most hardcore players smash their head against the wall for months.

I’m at 60 and holding there. Any higher becomes a stress fest. Of course i could use better gear but it’s all in the rng of things.

It’ll be a big piece for sure, and I agree. The other big pieces will be NMD for master working materials and the new Kurast Undercity. We’ll see how it goes, but Pits do get stale pretty fast.

I get that. Kinda winding down on the season with experimental ideas with builds, myself but this will only last a lil longer.

No ability to relate to wanting to go for pit 150 but hey, when there’s not much else left to do but you still wanna play… okay.

This was my biggest gripe of the game in pre-season. At this point, I feel like getting one-shot OFTEN is typically a skill issue or a gross lack of understanding of defenses. This is not a belief I tie to things like pit 150 though. At pit 150, ya better be ready to time dodge and escape skills just right etc.

I mean… I assume you’re not demanding higher pit levels be dumbed down for some reason right before they’re about to be reworked anyway?

I am really not looking for pits.

Only good thing I can say about pits is, they are like NMDs just without objectives.

Would like to see increasing mobs required for boss spawn, made them stronger and nerf boss big time.

PIT now is just a boss to be honest.

My Rogue has 49k HP with Elixir of Fortitude II. With 6 points in Second Wind I have a permanent barrier for 90% of my health (about 45k more HP). Max resists are all 84%. Over the armor cap. 40% damage reduction on my Tyrael’s Might. Another 18% DR from Sturdy. Even more DR from Paragon.

Yet still I get one-shotted by Pit tier 145 bosses. They’re essentially hitting for 200k occasionally and they have 10,000,000,000,000 health. The mode’s a joke.

The Pit is unfortunately extremely boring. Hopefully it gets updated to be actually fun in VoH, or things will be rough going for me.

Hah, thank you! I appreciate the encouragement. I’ll be sure to report back if/when I’m able to do it. So far I’ve done about 10 runs of 147 and I just run out of time before the boss dies. There are a few spots I can squeak out a bit more damage in my build, so I will keep plugging away.

Thats the spirit.
The one thing i learned from my decade+ in WoW that i have applied to everything in life (and not just gaming) is that you can always find another couple percent improvment.

I feel for you, thiugh. Im sure its not easy.

I played Shadow Necro up till 60 and kinda stopped

Noticed how sometimes I clear the pit in less than 7-8 minutes and then die to boss 4 times, and other times I succeed vs boss as well (depending on which boss it was)

IDK if they fixed it but was kinda enough for me tbh (wanted to see if I can kill Tormented boss and get the spark this season but considering ended up in sub 25k HP think Shadow was not the right choice)

On the oneshots: I really hope they fix the pit bosses in d4 2.0
so that the boss difficulty is in line with the dungeon itself.
This was the declared goal and we are thousands of miles away from this goal in season 5.

I hope the TIER change pits are really different. I would like a special challenge, meteors, 2 bosses, maidens… there should be something special.

Pit difficulty will change soon. Ptr next week

doesnt matter for the people that want to grab the t150 title/achievement while its still there ^^

im currently at 136 and start to notice that i really have to fish for nice bosses. some boss/shade combos can really make or break it later on xD
