After watching the video about the upcoming expansion and seeing the planed changes for Necromancer and what they did after last season. There is no other conclusion, Blizzard hates Necromancer and seems determined to drive those who want to main Necromancer to just not play their game period.
Once again massive unnecessary nerfs ruin builds and the fun all together.
If there’s one thing I hope someone at Blizzard gets from this comment its this.
I’m done complaining, I’m done begging, I’m done hoping, I’m done posting.
If you cant see why nuking Necromancer into oblivion would make people not want to buy your expansion or pay for your battle pass or buy into your system then I don’t understand how you keep from choking on those crayons. Maybe its because your to busy with the window, who knows.
Either way I’m done kidding myself that the devs at Blizzard have anything other then contempt for Necromancers and legitimate criticism.
I know this will get flagged and some Bliz dev will remove it because why should anyone ever have to read something that not only hurts their delicate feelings but they disagree with as well. Its a shame. But its how this place is run.
This is kinda normal for Diablo games unfortunately. Necro gets the short end of the stick, always. Happened in D2, D3 and D4.
I think it’s a design problem. Devs either don’t know or don’t care how to design a fun necromancer that has competitive top tier builds without being a total gimmick like infinimist builds or glass cannon “I die if something looks at me wrong” D3 builds, etc.
Lol. Constructive. I’m not sure what thing you’re even mad about.
When Necro first came out in D3 it was kind of a powerhouse. Got nerfed too much after a season though.
Blizzard has the constructive feedback, streamers told them not to go through with the shadow damage nerfs in the way they did and it basically killed all hybrid builds because they didn’t listen.
Now if you go Necro and want to not suck at high tier content you either go bugged infinimist abuse build, blood nova build or bone spirit build. Otherwise you’re delegated to T1-2 Hordes or equiv content.
i mean, i dont think blizz hates necros, but over the seasons they do often feel like they got the short end when it came to balance. S4 was pretty great for necros tho.
Necro has been viable in every season. Was it always the strongest? Hell no. but absolutely playable after all.
It’s a bit better now but it’s super gear dependent. I have a D3 build that uses a combination of like 3 different sets that despawns skeleton summons to create corpses to consume the corpse to give me health/mana which in turn launches a bone spear that deals like 10 billion damage from 3 screens away - and it just rolls if I don’t get greedy. But the moment I forget I’m made of wet tissue paper something will kill me lol.
It’s because whatever poo Blizzard serve them, the fanboys will eat it with joy.
And it’s not just Necro. Look at the new mythic unique for the spiritboy. +27 too all skills, +11 to one passive, +11 to second passive. Then they come and say “play your way”. No,I can’t play my way here. But I can surely go my way!
Lol. I also wrote something up about the state of necromancer, but it is far from that bad. I can clear T8 IH and Tormented Bosses with both a shadow mage build and a thorns warrior build. The blighted aspect nerf did suck, but it was needed. It proved how reliant Necromancer was on aspect power. Hopefully, we can get them to see that and buff/change our skill tree.
We’ll see how it turns out, Necro damage is abysmal compared to every other class imo, outside of 3 builds, 1 of which needs 5-7 bugs to even function lol.
I just really liked that Bone Spear set it had, where your summoned copies of you would cast bone spear each time you did. That’s a play style that is kinda possible in D4 (it’s a BotD option for Skelly Mages) but sadly never really been a viable thing. Bone Spear was only really good in like Season 1 and that was back when Necro was “Sacrifice or Bust”
I definitely combined it with some other sets too and whatnot, using things like squirts to get obnoxious multipliers.
Only crap part was no health, you die if something touches you. It would be neat to see something like that come back for D4. The closest right now is BCE + Howl gloves/Andy’s Visage.
I can agree with the damage part. A fully optimized Necromancer can’t keep up with the damage of any other class unoptimized. Bone Spirit is an outlier in the damage department, but it still suffers from the same survivability issues as any other Necromancer build.
Can you look at these and show me where the nerfs are? That are not due to the stat squish that is comeing? Because generaly all I see are buffs.

I believe they were referring to current season and the Blighted Aspect nerf.
Op is a bit late to the party than.
So their complaint is about one build in particular we all knew would be nerfed for over performing? Must be their first Blizzard game.
To be fair, the blighted aspect nerf took out far more than a single build, but it was needed. It proved how much we rely on aspects for power for Necromancer.
To be fair all builds rely heavily on aspects. However that was our OP mechanic of the season. Now we’re kind of back to normal again. Minions are still doing fairly well, there’s a hilarious infini-mist build out there now that can farm T8 hordes, and Bone Spirit is extremely powerful this season.
Not saying we couldn’t use some love, but at least we’re not Barbs am I right?
I don’t think we have as much power in our skill tree or paragon boards as other classes do. We rely completely on aspect multipliers to be relevant. We need to stack so many multiplicative aspects to have relevant damage that we can’t take any fun aspects or aspects that make a build more smooth without suffering for it.
