China gets a new server why cant we get a EU server

why cant we get a EU server lag is bad on US servers for EU players

There are 1.000.000 more people in china population 1m² than in the EU. They need more servers. :see_no_evil:

But you are totally right the lag is evil. When im dashing through a NM dungeon only by myself every movement is crisp and every action done right away.

When i enter an open world map and do helltides i push the same buttons as always. Guess what happens. My character dashes… starts shooting (penshot) and slides for ca. 3 metres. This is like iceskating w/o using blades under the shoes. But its kinda funny and i get used to it long time ago. :ice_skate:

Multiplayer in china is a whole different animal than anywhere else, their profile is tied for their official personal ID…

We don’t have hard servers based on region like we had in diablo 2, when you log in, authenticator tries to connect you to the best possible one. If you’re from eu, it’s most likely the frankfurt server.

Us is 6 EU hours behind time so take long to get to US servers there take longer to get to server making lag bad. We connect on US server there is no EU server for diablo 4 have to travel 6 hours to get US servers making lag bad and lag spikes understand

Don’t you have a server in Frankfurt?

Why do you think that? Blizzard has servers for their games in the EU. I am not sure which location you will get put on, but they do have EU servers. They always have.

There are currently data centers for D4 (and other Blizzard games) in London, Paris, Frankfurt, and Amsterdam. The Bnet software connects you to the closest one usually.

They no longer do Tech Support so you can’t get the test IP addresses of servers anymore, but they do have EU datacenters.

That’s an easy enough thing to check though. At least for PC users. You can check IP connections by program. I do this anytime I think it might be a server issue instead of a me, or route issue.

They do have quite a bit of security masking though. So you can get close, but you can’t get to the actual servers - just whatever is public down the line.

It would at least show the continent though! I have no clue why the OP thinks there are no EU servers for D4 or Blizzard games.

This is the answer. There are NO servers in the EU, just the Bnet data servers which shove you to the US.

There’s been a common misconception that Blizzard connected you through the California servers for some odd reason. Which I basically had to explain in that thread that when connecting to D4 the login authentication will go through that sure, but the physical connection to the server will be to your nearest one.

Now if you group with some one that’s in another country, there’s a system in place to either pull them to your server, you to their server, or find a happy medium in the middle that might give worse ping to both sides, but better than one person just straight connecting to your server.

So if you lived in Germany, your friend in Australia, your instance server (upon forming a group) may very well be in the Asia data center.

that true all the other blizzard games has EU servers on regions but not Diablo 4

We’ve been over this before. It’s also very simple to test yourself. I even gave the instructions in the other thread about it. There would be far more people on the EU forums complaining about their ping being 200+ if they didn’t have their own dedicated servers.

live in south-africa ping shows 215ms some days it goes up to 500ms and 1500ms

No. That is not the case. That would make no logical sense.

Login sequence first takes you to the Authentication servers which are the front gateway. You sometimes see those down even when a game is up. Then after that you go to the game servers based on location.

EU has servers for D4. You are not playing on CA servers, even if you Authenticate somewhere else.

Having servers is one thing. Having infrastructure able to efficiently manage the workload is another. If EU serves are full, I imagine EU players are connected somewhere else.

What I can say for sure is that the game as never been as laggy as it is this season for me.

Pretty sure it pulls to the server of the Group Lead, if it works like the rest of the Blizzard games.

This can also be game programming. Depending on the inventory systems, UI interfaces, spell effects, etc. it can cause a ton of lag and even disconnects.

I am not having lag, but I DO have random DCs when my internet is fine. It could be something in between along the path, but it could very likely be something game related.

Because your closest server is either Asia or EU. When you see those spikes it could be any number of reasons. It could also be due to grouping with friends who live in other countries.

there is no region option on d4 game

That’s what I assumed as well, I was just hoping they had the infrastructure of other systems to find the happy medium. Obviously without confirmation from Blizzard we just don’t know. I can hope though.

Correct. You can’t select the Region yourself. It selects it for you based on where you are connecting from. That does not mean they don’t have servers (datacenters) in those locations. They have at least 4 in the EU.

Not being able to select your Region does not mean there is only one game server.

I have no idea if this is accurate, but even back at the start people were pulling server locations up from data mining. Yes, there EU has coverage. This is 2023

That works out to be:
Chicago
LA
EU “west”
Asia - probably Singapore
Brazil
Sidney Australia
