Hello there, have noticed that when activating the skills on 1 or 2 that sometimes seemingly randomly it will open the chat box. I do not know what is causing it but it has been a common thing among my gaming group.

I can confirm. It also captures the key inputs and you are basically screwed when this happens midfight with elites.

Doesn’t happen very often but enough to be annoying and confusing.
I found that on PC, the chat expand-to-fullscreen button (top right corner of a chat box) is clickable even when invisible. If you have movement on left mouse button and click on that area of the screen, the chat window becomes active.
Please make the expand chat button unclickable when it is invisible

Yeah, I noticed that my chat activates mostly when clicking in the bottom left corner but I’m not sure which part of the chat box does it. I can’t seem to be able to click the expand button when it is invisible though.
Yeah and this is still going on in live.

Fix this blizzard. Other people on reddit have commented on it. In the top right corner, the damn thing is clickable even when the window is invisible

Upon further testing I’m pretty sure it is the area just below the mentioned button, where the horizontal ruler is. I can replicate it now 100% of the time

Been getting this bug as well. Able to replicate it consistently. Got my first hardcode character killed by it too.
Bump, really hope Blizzard can address this soon it’s such a frustrating bug. There’s a spot right under the button to maximize the chat window that opens up the chat when clicked. It’s actually game breaking and causing so many dumb deaths
Experiencing this playing with a PS4 Dual Shock controller on PC. Here’s the repro:
Stand still and press the combo attack/interact button.
You’ll probably, in some order, open chat and attack over and over. This will continue as long as you press X while not moving. Also happens if you are near an interactable where it’ll bounce between opening chat and using the object.
What’s interesting is that this DOES NOT happen if you are inputting movement with the left stick. So if you are moving and press the attack/interact button chat will never open. The moment you stop and press X it’ll start happening again.
It’s basically stopping me from playing. Super annoying and dangerous. Also I think this is new in the last 24-48 hours?
My theory is that chat is being automatically focused when the character stops moving.
This just happened to me during a boss fight and I do not have a chat binding anywhere close to my combat bindings.
I bet you a significant amount of hardcore runs are going to be lost to this

So, from what I figured out, it wasn’t happening to me, but once I expanded the chat then made it small again, I now have the problem. So, it’s a bug for sure on their end. I never had ever touched the chat window before but a clan member was like this keeps happening to me what is going on? Well, he had expanded chat and then contracted it back down. So, if you don’t have this problem don’t expand the chat.
I’m not sure if there is another way to make this happen.
This just happened to me at lvl 85 in Hardcore and I died because of it. I was in the middle of a tough place and I didn’t realize the chat had opened. Couldn’t use my skills, couldn’t use my scroll of escape hotkey.
I can confirm it’s a click that opens the chat when you’re simply clicking to walk if you click exactly where the expand icon is, even though you’re not seeing it.
This happens frequently to me and other friends.

Hope this gets fixed as I believe many players have certainly died and many more will die because of it.
