I like the look of my rogue and the sorcerer is okay but the necro looks like she’s having serious drug withdrawal. I love her play style, but when I’m at the character screen, I can’t stand looking at her–she looks seriously ill and mentally unbalanced. I like that we can get skins as we break down gear, but it’s not that varied and peters out after lvl 20. If you look at games that are successful over a long time, they usually have great character customization. Just like in real life, we don’t want to show up at the party looking like “the other girl.”
Garr0t’s got the right of it. Too many people are focused on hurrdurr “male gaze, you just want them to look sexy in a bikini.” That’s not it at all.
In gaming and character choice, my female power fantasy is that you can still be a combat badass doing cool moves and then your hair still looks great, that you look the best you even if covered in blood and demon guts, doing things you cannot do IRL. I choose that for me, not for anyone else.
I wanted a female Druid who looks like she fits the lean D2 druid werewolf model, and Blizzard has made that impossible.
Also very true. For me personally, I don’t want to play a character who looks like something I try to avoid becoming IRL. And I will not spend money on that either.
If they wont be attractive, who would even buy skins for them ?
I mean I wouldnt buy skins either way, but some people really buy that stuff.
People bought skins for all kinds of monsters/creatures in Heroes of the Storm.
Maybe they found them to be attractive…
budget & investor want retun profit asap is the limit
They don’t have to. But what’s wrong with allowing you to make them that way, if that’s what you want? The better tools you have for creating your dream character, whatever that looks like, the better.
Characters don’t need to be attractive and people don’t need to play video games.
Players play games for entertainment. Players want the characters to look attractive because that makes the game more enjoyable. Therefore characters DO need to look attractive. QED.
I love my beefy druid!
Many people live vicariously through avatars. Ironically, the unhealthy part is that mindset, not the body types of these characters they find offensive. That’s escapism in essence.
I would agree that making customization available opened this can of worms in the first place, might as well just add a couple of variations. Make the full customization range. Sliders would be the most optimal choice.
All the body shaming is absolutely unnecessary, nevertheless.
I find the characters just to be natural looking. Wich is perfect. People shouldn’t be able to create characters that look like they had plastic surgery in a time where there was none LMAO.
Just because you don’t feel attracted to natural, does not mean it should be implemented into a game. Barbarian woman arent really busy with getting their lips filled. Neither are necromancers. They’re more so busy with surviving with the means they have.
Sure there can be more options to change up your character. I would have loved to have a different style of beard on my wizard or just freckles but alas. I went with the options I had.
The only character I would argue doesn’t look natural is barbarian, as they are way too broad. Usually guys that size use anabolics. No matter if they tell you they don’t. Only 5% of people would look that broad but even then you would have to eat the perfect food. But for the class it’s in, I’m willing to accept it as it makes sense in a way.
On top of that, I do find myself to be attracted towards the male wizard and most male classes for that matter. They don’t have to have pecs wich they can crack an egg in between while wielding a wand and not training physically LOL. It wouldn’t have made sense.
Then it’s stupid that they have a SHOP that sells COSMETICS to make characters look MORE ATTRACTIVE.
I agree… except if you set your “look” to be as naked as you can be. Then beauty is in your eye… not in ‘anyone’ elses…
Generally speaking, you don’t ever see your own character… even on the login screens.
They don’t. They have cosmetics that my “you” look more attractive to ‘yourself’ The Armour… the Weapon… that’s the cosmetic… not your face… or your body…
I honestly don’t sit here and stare at myself… I’m not vain.
er… inventory screen? every single time? i find that people who are on the other side of the fence are very much like flat earth theorists, can’t hold a candle to making proper debate or valid points
I’m sure microtransaction sales will suffer, then the Diablo 4 dev team would be like, okay now let’s add more customization character faces to offshoot this, but the body types will stay the same. I’m sure that will somewhat remedy this.
From one ugly person, to what sounds like another…why do I want my characters to look like my mirror?
Give me something pretty/handsome to look at. To aspire too. Good looking people are just better.
yes i bet you feel great having characters that resemble you in real life (probably the druid) . most of us want more options however.
They dont… you also do not need transmog, at all. As a matter of fact, they should put all characters in a permanent tutus and you just have to deal with it. Maybe ad to the shop some different color ones so folks have options. The absurdity of these posts seem to be getting better and better.
Honestly, nobody cares about your opinion on the subject. The posts are directed at Blizzard in general, as with all posts like this… the basic premise is… “Give us some options… please.”
I’m going to laugh my butt off when they put in the shop a “Hot” druid… hell, I’d buy it just to spite all of these dumb posts… I’d pay 100$ for it right now.
Ugly people triggered by people preferring pretty people (characters), film at 11
Yes, but this is a game where people should be able to live vicariously as some attractive and powerful hero.
