Character persistence frequency

I am currently concerned about the frequency that character status is persisted. I have experienced a number of time warps when encountering a disconnect and 316719 error. Items, levels, positioning etc. are all at a prior state that is several minutes prior to the disconnect. I have the expectation that character state, at least in terms of items and exp, will be what it was at disconnect time and that the current behavior is not as intended and will be remedied.
