I lost my character because I wasnt able to use skills or dodge. Level 56 sorcerer with 35 hours of gametime gone.
Just a heads up if you havent already encountered this issue. Its happend to me twice already and both times were in a solo instance.
Please check to see if your skills are working when you enter a dungeon.

Yea I’m not sure what caused my Barb to lock up until I switched screens. Animation kinda had his arms above his head I remember

Its obviously blizzards fault here, but play in windowed and when you freeze like that alt tab twice back to your screen and you should be good.
Something in your computers background just haults the game entirely.
I posted it in there. Also saw a couple of people have the same issue.
I didn’t die but in the same evening it happened to me twice yesterday while grouped with friends. Once I could move around, the other time not.
I wasn’t frozen I could see what was going on, but I couldn’t teleport or use any skills even though I saw my keystrokes registering on the actionbar. It was pretty scary.
What solved it was a hard restart of the game
Yeah when I learned about this I started always hitting ice armor anytime I zone anywhere to check if abilities are working.
I’ve been able to replicate this bug and I’ve narrowed it down to going AFK in town where your skills are disabled for long periods of time or being afk and not using any skills for long periods of time just before the auto kick feature kicks in you cancel it by moving but your skills are still disabled from town or inactivity.
Hopefully the patch it soon. With the official release and the first 1000 HC characters to 100 event going on. There is going to be more HC character deaths because of this stupid bug.

This happened to me TWICE now, the first time on my 94 rogue and the second on my 98 rogue. The first time I thought that it must have been something I had done or some skill that I did not know about at higher levels.
I lost my level 98 rogue to the same glitch this morning and was happy to see your post! It is just nice to know I am not the only person who out of nowhere stopped moving, attacking, dodging. I was stuck in place. I am sure it was not lag because there was no delay in any incoming damage and I could spin.
I just had to watch as I slowly lost more and more health, with no ability to just do basic attacks to trigger my health on hit.
I am sorry for your loss.
Congratulations you’ve discovered one of Activision’s player retention techniques. Don’t expect for it to be fixed anytime soon
