Character creation

I played both beta weekends and I am a little disappointed as well as worried about the character development and creation aspect of the game.
Please don’t take this as someone who is fat shaming anyone, but the Druid class is downright disgusting to look at.
Have any of the developers ever seen a real Celtic Druid…?
These people were not huge, slovenly or obese in the least
Most of them were hunter gatherers who had to track and run down their prey for protein sources
If you look at almost any documentary about the Celts they are portrayed as slender, lithe, sometimes even petite yet strong, sinewy people
Yes I understand that the develops might have wanted to have classes of all ethnicities as well as body shapes, but come on!
Would it be all that difficult to have an option, like a tin of games currently do, of actually being able to chose your body type?
Or maybe even just have a slider that takes the body from slender to robust…?
I’m not trying to sound rude or be not PC but when I play a game, especially one that I spend not only hours upon hours playing but also a good amount of money of investment, I feel as if I should be able to create a character that I would want.
Also, and maybe I’m going out on a limb here, I am very visually inclined, stimulated and drawn to a certain healthier looking human.
There’s also the fact that ALL of the characters are constantly running around this beautiful open world you all have created.
Running burns tons of calories…not to mention that out of the two meals we’ve seen our character eat one of them was thrown up lol
Is it to much to ask if you could please try to make the character more balanced and realistic…?
I’m not asking for super models, huge breasts or fat butts, just normal healthy looking people
Or maybe offer the option to choose from all the already offered and established body types that you’ve created for all the other characters…?
I, for one, was really excited to build a Druid but I wanted to fashion her like the Batman character Poison Ivy. Using the vines and poison effects, but that is clearly not possible at this present time
Also what is up with the hair styles…? Do the developers really not understand that men and women of the darker persuasion have much different, thicker, courser and kinkier hair…?
If you’re going to make different characters based on ethnicity then at least put the time in to make them feel a little more realistic
The Asian and American Indigenous people have much different hair as well. Usually dark, thick and glossy…
The styles offered are generally somewhat generic
Okay I’ll jump down from my soapbox now
But please read these comments and realize that there’s probably many people who think very strongly and similarly about these same issues

Not based on reality. They are descended from barbarians.

I do agree the character customizer need to be more fleshed out though.

Hopefully This was just the choices that were offered on the Beta and maybe they’ll surprise us when the real game gets released.
There are so many other games out there, some of them are equally expensive but others not as or even free that offer much more customization when building a character
I am somewhat dismayed that I have already prepaid for the deluxe version of the game…if it’s going to stay the way it is now
Maybe it’s petty of me to complain and fuss about this issue but I’m a very visually inclined gamer and I feel let down by this very poor offering from such an epic game…

This really needed a new thread. I’m sure your thoughts were too original to post in one of the other million anti thicc Druid topics.

Still wishing now. the only option they gave folks… was the male or female option. no editing character nothing.

People get new stuff its “WAH WAH moar”

The more we fill the board and speak up against this woke nonsense, the better.

I am, I think Druid females should look like the mom from The Incredibles. The male looks like Robert Baratheon and whoever is into that can have him. I’d take it as a Barb but not Druid.

Besides that, the top causes of death in the USA are heart disease, cancer which is linked to obesity, and third is diabetes. Should we be celebrating the lifestyles that contribute to this?

It isn’t even that the body type is in the game at all, but rather why. It’s obviously not for story or realism since actual druids look like athletes. I would have been fine if they made the Barbarian male look like the Druid male instead, because that at least fits what a warlord looks like who feasts in a hall and raids villages. I can buy that.

So then it must be for diversity reasons, which is Blizzard’s prerogative, but IMO it doesn’t help people to reinforce lifestyles that slowly destroy them.

This is really not much different than if Necromancers had cigarettes in their mouths with no option to remove it, or track marks on their arms, and I doubt that recovering addicts want their past to be romanticized in a game, nor certain body types becoming pawns in some sort of media campaign.

And these companies, they are all about inclusion and feelings, but they wash their hands of it as soon as the cameras stop rolling, it’s just for money, they use diversity as damage control for their lawsuits, it makes the media go bother someone else.
