I did 5 level 80 pit runs (which are quite tedious and time consuming for me at the moment) trying to upgrade one of my level 82 glyphs. 40% upgrade chance. 18 upgrade attempts in succession all against the same glyph. Every single attempt failed
This is such a joke. Instead of this RNG chance based nonsense they should just award a certain number of guaranteed glyph upgrades based on the difference between the pit level and the glyph level (and obviously just award none if the pit is too low for the glyph that is being upgraded).
Either that or have the chance to upgrade the glyph increase every time it fails until it’s at 100% chance on the 4th try. Also stop taking away upgrade attempts due to deaths, it’s bad enough that we get penalized on time to the point where we may not even be able to complete the level.
It’s a horrible feeling and extremely frustrating to put all of this time in, kill 5 higher level pit bosses after dodging their myriad of annoying one shot mechanics for 5 to 7 minutes each as Sorcerer, which does garbage single target damage to bosses, and then have absolutely nothing to show for it.
This isn’t like re-rolling masterworking on an item repeatedly. These higher end pit runs take serious time and effort to complete when you’re still working your way up through them. We’re already randomly getting much more difficult pit levels, with all of the monsters having much more health than usual, which are generally undoable (also annoying).
There shouldn’t be any RNG involved with the glyph upgrades at all. This new glyph leveling system is easily the least fun that I have had with this game since launch.
I agree with you Their copied this crap from Diablo 3 greater rifts. I have a hard time with my Fireball sorc to get past pit 70+ to get my glyphs to lvl up. The fail system sucks lol
I concur with this message. The previous system with exp to allocate toward glyph leveling, with higher tiers awarding more, was fine. It did not need to change and the new system made the game worse.
I don’t have a choice. My Sorcerer is as maxed on gear as I’m going to be able to get them in the near term. All ancestrals with the best GA on them, perfectly masterworked with all of the best mythics. My paragon board and skills are as optimized as they are going to get. I’m breezing through Torment 4 Hordes but level 80 pits take me almost the entire timer to complete, mainly because of how bad Sorcerers are at dealing boss damage. Especially after the meganerf that they received this season.
The only way for me to push my damage a little higher at this point is to level glyphs and so here I am doing pits that are lower than my glyph levels. If the glyph power scaling wasn’t so bad this wouldn’t be an issue. Like why aren’t we getting another radius increase around level 75? All paragon points after around level 240 are basically useless because all glyph effects and damage nodes are maxed out by then.
In the exact same situation with Rogue. Glyphs are mid to high 80’s but the last level I can do in anywhere around 5 minutes is 80 which only gives me a 10% chance of an upgrade and the last level that I can really speedrun is 75 which gives me zero chance. Zero? Really, Blizzard?
