Casual players don't want spreadsheets with their games

Here is why D4 was so popular on release:

D4 is straight forward enough for the casual gamer to pick up and start playing and be successful with little to no knowledge of the game. It’s also complicated enough to keep them interested without overwhelming them.

Casual dad gamers don’t want to come home from work and open up Microsoft Excel or some 3rd party application and spend 5 hrs to make a build for their POE or POE2 character so they can enjoy the game.

They want to play the game and smash monsters. That’s it. The vast majority of players are casual players. They want simple fun games like D4 or COD or Battlefield or Classic WOW, etc.

They don’t want a spreadsheet simulator disguised as a game. They aren’t dungeon and dragon players.

They want to smash monsters and have fun.

This is why D4 will continue to be VASTLY more popular than POE or POE2. Oh and POE2 is 2 years away probably from mass release.

To each their own. A spreadsheet is only for those who demands it. Not for those just picking random nodes and playing the game. “I’m doing 100 damage. I pick this random node. Now I’m doing 105 damage. Yay for me! I"m doing more damage than before.”

Okay than they should keep playing D4.

Casual gamers also keep buying CoD, FIFA and so on soooooooo…perhaps the lesson is that casual gamers don’t game that much ergo they can enjoy bad games because they don’t have enough context?

Take Tiktok. Its EXCEPTIONALLY popular. It is one of the biggest platforms in the world and its just short - attention span abusing empty garbage.

I mean ffs my GF thinks Pokemon GO is a 10 / 10 game. Its really not even a game.

There’s nothing wrong with this but the hyper casual crowd are akin to the kind of people who’s favorite songs are what’s been on the radio lately.

Whatever has a big name / brand.

Says the game that needs online research as why play your way don’t work because most of the skills in the game is underpowered or bugged. Time to jump back on Maxroll and have a blast with a few working builds than being the worst public relations officer ever.

This is just what people who like to bash D4 say.

You can in fact play nearly any build in D4 and do well. I’ve played one of the worst builds in D4 all the way to 95 and was never really challenged.

LUL it’s still insanely popular or they wouldn’t be hiring tons of people to improve it.

Their financial report says they have strong earnings outlook for D4.

Cope harder my friend.

“Their financial report”

Hahahahaha

My God you can’t make up your mind. Just three weeks ago you said d4 casual dad couldn’t make a competent build and that’s why they hated d4. No indication d4 was straightforward back then. Today it’s d4 will be loved en masse by all casual dads.

Which is it?

Majority of people are dumb, majority of players are dumb, they just want an easy fun game, and thats totally fine imo.

Diablo 4 still has terrible endgame though.

He just chooses the most controversial topic to try to defend the game in any possible way he can. Doesn’t actually use his brain.

Most casual gamers do fine in D4. The ones who come here to complain are usually the ones who want to do nightmare 100 or uber lilith with their meme build and don’t understand why they can’t or why a game can’t be made where it’s possible to do everything with every meme build.

They are the vocal clueless minority.

The vast majority of casual gamers who play D4 have no major issues with it and never even get to the point where nightmare 100 or uber lilith even matter to them.

I wish the D4 devs used a spreadsheet.

Maybe then they could keep track of what talents and paragon points were actual +'s and which ones were actual x’s.

Oh well…

D4 is absolutely brainless and the devs are pusing it even more in that direction.
that includes the loot, of which nothing is really exciting.

haha, I used to do that. Look up builds and for poe. Then a neuron fired off i realized i wasting my time because most if not all poe builds are built around very specific gear. Gear i did not have. So i just started doing my own thing. And heck it worked pretty well. The tree is self explanatory if one takes the time to look at the nodes and chose a path. pundun there.
