Going to take my wife through the beta. Thinking about setting her up as a cold Sorc and carrying her through as a Rogue. She can cc everything and I can blow it up from range and likely protect her from overdying in the process.
Any other combination you think would be better for this situation. I didn’t play a rogue the last beta, but it looks like a good class to run a novice player with.

You make it sound like the beta is hard, she will probably be able to carry herself.

Necro could be a good pair for a rouge too. Pretty safe too.
That game isn’t hard. Don’t “set her up” with something, just let her pick a character she thinks is cool. Don’t make it your goal to blow everything up and carry her if you want her to actually enjoy the game, as that just makes it all about you.

Don’t let her play a support role, where’s the fun in that! Like others have said: The Beta is very easy. Let her pick a class she likes and you can BOTH have fun.

I wouldn’t suggest an ice sorc to start with as CC won’t be effective on bosses. Just find some footage of basic builds for each class and let her pick.
A rogue carry a sorc eh? I think it will be the other way around, youll be running in, and she’ll kill everything before you reach it
BTW, she should be chain lightning. Its the best skill for new players. No positioning or worrying about which mob to target for max effect.

If she’s dies you can just res her. Why have a passive player when said player can be more active in the group? I think TC just wants to be the hero then make everyone else a sidekick just so he looks good.

Just let her play what she wants and play around that.
She asked me to carry her. I just did the same in D3 again. She wants to see the game but isn’t really interested in playing it. She bought it for the wow mount. I’m not on some power trip, I’m just doing what she asked. Some of you assume a lot for not knowing ish.
I was just looking for something that she might find fun to play during the beta and maybe get her interested enough to play on release. Yes, the game is easy for people that ARPG. But it’s very different from wow and she has little to no ARPG experience. We’ve been married longer than many of you have been alive. This isn’t some hero crusade.

I would say any of the ranged classes would be fine (including ranged rogue). Have her take a look at all of them and see which one seems the most fun to her. They were all pretty simple to play and strong enough that I think she will be fine.

You should definitely tell her what to play. Show her who’s boss!
Necro would be the absolute easiest to be carried, due to the minions.
Sorc is up there, too. This idea that CC is useless against bosses is really overblown. Something like frost nova, which has a vulnerable node with extra duration vs bosses will be extremely helpful to you. Her job against bosses is just to stay alive, and any damage she can contribute is sort of bonus.
Rogue is one of the tougher characters to play well, even though for an experienced player it’s easy at veteran.
Druid needs items probably more than anyone and really isn’t tuned to be very good during the beta.
Barbarians can be made to be very tanky and have some of the best ally oriented skills in the game. Not everyone likes melee, though, so that kind of depends on her preference.
Play 2 melee rogues and rip everything to shreds.

May seem an odd suggestion, but perhaps Barbarian.
She can keep up vulnerability, buff with shouts, and CC as well. Also it’s a tanky class (they even buffed its native dr by 10%).
You could also just figure it out based on what her main is in WoW.

She can cook him dinner and buff him in Diablo. Sounds like a great life to me! Just let her play whatever she thinks looks cute dude.
Don’t carry her, teach her how to play.

Do you want your wife to have fun, or do you want to have more fun at the expense of your wife?
When you first played Diablo… did you have someone to carry you? If you were able to figure it out as a child, I’m sure an adult will be able to do it too.
I’d say, let her decide on the type of character that seems the most interesting to her. Be there to assist with questions about gear, skill points, etc… Still group up and play together, but who knows she might end up carrying you later in the game
