Can't whisper/reply to whispers unless person im trying to whisper is in my friend list

Im having the same problem did you figure it out?

I am on pc. I have checked all my settings on battlenet, diablo. everything ir public open.

I can chat with clan. I can chat in party. I cannot whisper anyone unless theyre on my friends list. But they can whisper me.

Any fix?

Attention Blizzard, I cannot whisper anyone, I was directed here by GM ticket. I have the same issue as these folks, has to be on friends list. Affecting game play, don’t want to spam folks with friend requests just to talk to them without blasting the clan chat for one on one communication.

This is the issue that I have exactly. I was directed here per GM ticket. My settings are also up to date.

If I had to guess, it is probably due to the other person having their profile set to private.

Having the same issue… i just waited 1 year to get the most problems done bevore i play d4 for, but i assume i have shoulded wait 2 years… thank you blizzard for disapointing us again

Everything is the same, since the release of the game, I can’t whisper until I add it as a friend, it really interferes with the multiplayer game.
Also, from the beginning of the release I had no exchange chat, but with some patch it was fixed.

Same issue. Can’t whisper anyone unless I have it as friends. As the others, can write normally in other chats, but not in whispers. I gotta mention I don’t get any notice/message/feedback when I try to whisper someone and it’s not working.

This just started happening to me today. When I hit enter my message just disappears. I lost out on 2 trades I really wanted because of it. It hasn’t been a problem for me before now.

a Named “Dish” found this solution in another post about this problem

your account setting on the website battle.net.
Go to the privacy settings: account > privacy and make sure “Private Text Chat” is set to “Everybody”.

My privacy settings were already set to this. I’ve tinkered around with these and in-game settings, removed parental controls from my account, changed windows settings, used different wifi/hotspots, deleted everything Diablo and re-downloaded the game… nothing works. It’s something Blizz side and they choose to Ingore it. Was an issue for many in D3 too. It’s affecting gameplay and it sucks. A big factor for me not purchasing the expansion.

Same problem here, changing Account-Settings back and forth doesnt change anything - whisper ingame wont be send, in the desktop app it shows error “7000”. I play Diablo4 via XBox-Pass, maybe it is related to that?
Kind Regards and hoping for a solution of this years old bug!
