Can't Use Confirm Button

I play with a controller, and I thought it was just my controller, as my controller genuinely was buggy, with significant analogue drift, so I went out and bought a new one-- but nope, same problem.

Almost certainly due to this being hosted by online servers instead of just letting us have the game on our own damned machines like all Diablo games prior, there are MANY MANY MANY times when I can’t use the confirm button for anything but attacking.

That means I can’t equip, talk to people, COMPLETE QUESTS that I just spent 45+ minutes doing, or anything else. Oddly, when that happens, it also prevents me from being able to mark items in my inventory as junk-- not that it matters, because even if I could, I still couldn’t “Confirm” to scrap or sell that junk with any Smith or vendor.

This has been going on since the BETA of the game, I assumed it would be fixed by now. What gives?

EDIT: Additional Info -

  • My PC runs this game on Ultra settings with minimal difficulty, but it makes my machine run hot, so I run it on Minimal settings.

  • I have waited for over 2 hours in-game for this situation to fix, as it has happened at the ends of quests I didn’t want to repeat, but it almost never does correct on its own if it doesn’t correct within the first 2 minutes of it happening-- which is to say, sometimes it corrects on its own, within the first 2 minutes. If it doesn’t, the only solution is to completely close the game and go back in-- and sometimes, the problem still persists.

  • Closing and re-opening the game (i.e. disconnecting and reconnecting to the servers) usually (but not always) corrects the problem.

  • All other buttons continue to function when Confirm does not, with the sole exception of not being able to use the button to mark items as junk (or unmark them) in my inventory. Stranger still, the confirm button continues to work for basic attacks out in the open world, as does the secondary (junk-marking) button.

  • There does not seem to be any consistency in when it starts or stops. It comes on completely randomly, and sometimes it goes away within a few seconds to around 2 minutes, but if it doesn’t go within that time, it stays seemingly forever.

  • This bug frequently appears in tandem with other lag-related issues like glitching enemies, spontaneous death, or an inability to collect loot.
