I tried logging in this afternoon after playing much of the morning. I had 4 characters created and I do not see any characters and can not seem to create a new one. Right now I am unable to play the beta unfortunately. My friends and son can still play so I assume it is an error in my D4 account.

Same here,
No character appears, and cant create new one, or interact with the menu
Tried restarting computer, reparing instalation an re-installing

Same problem here, tried restart ect no luck
I am having the same issue. While i was playing Diablo 4 my game crashed. Upon logging back in it seems the home screen is frozen. I cannot click on anything and both of the characters I had do not show up. I have to use Alt+f4 to close out of the game or Ctrl+Alt+Del. I have also tried restarting my computer along with updating the my drivers with no luck in resolving the issue.

Also having the issue described here, not me personally but my brother. FWIW I can login fine on the same network.

same crashed playing necro in kor dragul stronghold, relogged and stuck in character select screen with no available characters or ability to create new one or any type of input

Just reported the same problem … but it cleared itself up after waiting a minute or three. 
just let it marinate there, on the blank chracter screen a few minutes, they will eventually show up
server lag, i just had to queue to get into battle.net, so i guess they real busy
Someone invited me to play in a party and after accept there was only a black screen. After waited long period decided to kill D4 and after that characters not loading up anymore when game is launched.

did you stay logged in or log back in? Ive tried to load at least 8 times, restarts etc. no change…
Update, after you wait for several minutes. The characters appears, with a windows “reconnecting to diablo” and a cancel button.
Doesnt matter if I press that button or no, game crashes and I get to the desktop again …

Hmm… now came undo character delete window? level 1 wizard… Well I cancel that undo as I don’t need level 1 wizard as I have higher one there. It seems that wait needed like 10 minutes. But now I have my characters again in use.

Stayed logged in, in the background, while posting a bug report and taking a screenshot.
yup same issue. had a computer lockup while playing. after rebooting launch game and have character select screen with no toons.
cannot click anything. restarted computer again once. restarted Battle.net twice
while about to post (sitting on character select screen) it changed and working again. kinda a wierd bug to just sit there and do nothing for 15 min then change
Having the same issue. My game did not crash as I closed it earlier today. Came back to play and missing all my toons. I restarted game 3 times, restarted and logged out then back in to Blizzard twice. Still, no luck…
Same problem here. Couple restarts and waited a few hours, no luck 
I did not crash the last time I played earlier today.
Same issue here, no list of character appears. I logged out 2 hours earlier after playing for 2 hours without error, playing multiple characters. After Exiting DIV the PC remained on. I login now to this issue.
Update: After a long long wait with the “reconnecting to diablo” message, it finally worked out. Seems patience is a virtue in this case
