I figured that Blizzard would fail to mention this to everyone in the instructions - Your client needs to be in the Beta Version.
You can go to the Battle.net symbol in the app → Settings → Beta → Switch to Beta Client.
After that, you’ll be asked by the program to download, and restart the Battle.net App, once it’s restarted, you should now see the drop down box for Diablo IV!
Kinda unfair that they don’t mention that your client needs to be in Beta, I guess they justs assume people will know since this is technically the Beta version of the game, and it is a beta test of the server load capabilities!
Hope that helps! Safe travels fellow Adventurer! Unity and Fight for Humanity!
(reposted from my reply to another post - just making sure to help out by putting it in the actual topic title~)
UPDATED/EDITED: You can go back to the non-Beta version of the app immediately after changing to it, as this seems to force-update the client to have access to the Server Slam option now.
So no need to keep the Client in Beta!

They didn’t fail to mention it. It’s clearly in the blog.
" There’s no need to wait until May 12 to begin your download of Server Slam! Early Download for this experience starts on May 10 at 12 p.m. PDT. See the directions below on how to download Server Slam for your platform of choice.
If you do not have the Diablo IV Open Beta downloaded:
PC
- Launch the Battle.net client. If Diablo IV is not already in your Favorites bar, you can add it by clicking on the + icon. Alternatively, you can find Diablo IV by accessing the All Games page. You’ll see Diablo IV at the top of the list.
- Once you get to the Diablo IV Game Page, click the dropdown menu under Game Version and select the Diablo IV – Server Slam option. Click the blue button that says Install. The game will begin to install, and once it’s available, click Play to Launch.
Xbox
- Launch the Xbox Store and search for Diablo IV–Server Slam. Select Download.
PlayStation
- Launch the PlayStation Store and search for Diablo IV–Server Slam. Select Download.
For those that still have the Diablo IV Open Beta downloaded:
- Once the Early Download period begins, an update will be available for you to download. After Server Slam starts, you can begin your journey into Sanctuary.
Note: An Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus subscription will not be required to play Diablo IV during Server Slam in most regions. In Germany, a PlayStation Plus subscription will be required due to rating requirements. Once Diablo IV launches, an Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus subscription will be required to access some of the game’s multiplayer features."

It says to launch the Battle.net client. It doesn’t mention anything about it having to be the Beta version of the Client to have access.
This change only happens if the user has opted into using the beta client, if they haven’t, then realistically, people will be confused about why their client isn’t able to access the Server Slam.
Blizzard fails to inform the community/users that Beta Testing/Beta Versions of their games are only accessible if you have your client on beta as well, and any attempts to try and access betas from the (officialrelease)Battle.net App will fail to show them any of the beta games available.
I hope that makes sense?
It clearly says in the instructions I just posted from the blog how to download it. It clearly says use the drop down and choose “server slam”
You dont need any beta version of the battle.net client. I am not using the beta version of the client. Im using the regular battle.net client and used the drop down to change Diablo 4 to server slam just like the instructions above said to do.
They didnt fail to mention anything. The instructions are clear to follow.

I completely trust that that was your experience. In my case though, when I went to the Diablo IV in the games list of my Battle.net App, the option to download/install/dropdown select was not there, and I personally wasn’t able to find this drop down box everyone was talking about, and I saw the screenshots that everyone else had - I did not have the lower lefthand options.
So, in my case, because I knew this was an open beta and available for the public without having to pre-purchase, I did my due diligence and found the solution on how to view the download of Server Slam somehow.
So I changed my client to Beta, to see what would happen, and voila. The install button appears and now the “Game Settings” is now showing Diablo IV as it’s in my download queue now.
I’m not saying that my instructions need to be followed, or that everyone’s clients need to be in Beta, I was only addressing those that happen to maybe me in the same situation that I was in as well. I followed Blizzards directions - no drop down box on a clean install of the Battle.net App - what gives? - changed to Beta - voila - just a slight tweak and all is well.

You are the first person I have heard about with this issue. I dont know why you had it, but you are criticizing Blizzard for not giving people the right information and they did give the right information. There was probably just something bugged with your client or it hasnt been updated or something. If anything, you are misleading people telling them that they do need to run the beta client and they do not. I appreciate you are trying to help people but word it properly.
Threads like these are the reason packages of bacon have “Must Be Cooked” printed on the label.

I am sorry if that was how it came off, that was not my intention. I had a clean install of Battle.net on my computer and it was updated as well, so anything could have been an issue - I read a few posts that people already had played the beta previously and didn’t need to switch their client version, so it’s possible that to even have the download options to Diablo IV available is if the account has joined into the beta previously or some such.
This will be my first time joining the beta, so it’s also possible that may have been a barrier to having the easier not-beta version of the client useable.
I do appreciate that Blizzard has made this available, though I’m also sure that there are plenty of folks who have been left as confused as I am that we weren’t seeing the dropdown box like everyone else was. I would have given up - or contacted Blizzard directly if I wasn’t able to find a solution to it on my own (really wanna pre-download before it starts in 2 hours).
I hope you’ll be joining in on the Server Slam Shenanigans!
Not needed.
Not in beta version of the client and had zero issue finding and downloading the server slam.
You can count on it! Not much today because wife already had other plans but Im free to do anything I want all of Saturday starting from like Midnight tonight if I want.

There is no Beta, only Zool!
I deleted the beta after the last one, so now I have no Beta option at all, but I have “Diablo IV -Server Slam” as the option for Game Version.
It seems that some folks (myself included) are having issues finding it - though it’s quickly remedied by updating the client properly or by switching to Beta and then switching back - Both options now allow me to see the option to download/install “Live” or “In Development” versions of Diablo IV.
Just an issue that some folks may have, hoping it helps those that it is troubling

Ahh so your issue was not having an up to date client. So again, beta is not needed.
Possible! Since you can’t force the client to update as there’s option, having it change from Standard to Beta and then back to Standard again seems to force a client update, hopefully it helps folks out anyway !
Willing to bet clicking the gear next to play and checking for updates works just as well.
I’m having this same problem and nothing y’all have suggested is fixing it until i did exactly what was stated by T
This is so stupid. I still can’t access it keeps telling me I do not own it. Trash trash trash
I ran into this exact same issue. Went through the entire thread and tried everyone else’s suggestions first, did not fix it. Switched to the beta client and there it was.
Also had this issue. Server Slam was not showing up, only Beta which wouldn’t allow an install. Switched over to the Beta client and it was automatically selected.

Brother I am from Pakistan, and was highly frustrated for not finding the DROP DOWN GAME VERSION button in my Battle net app; tried contacting blizzard Customer Support, looked for any way to email & ask them but really didn’t find one anywhere.
I am personally MUCH thankful to you for clarifying this … bug? misunderstanding? in my opinion this IS a bug, because now that I have switched BACK to REGULAR BATTLENET from BETA… it is now showing the Server slam download option (which was not there before, only pre purchase button)
Once again thank you my dear. Am disappointed however as this should have been properly explained/fixed by Blizzard. And only adds to frustration for many like me. Don’t know why such a good company would make such careless mistakes.
