There is no reliable way to test builds for optimization unless you use kill times as a basis and thats flawed AF. If i have 7 things doing damage, its hard to find what number is coming for what. Stripping off gear and abilities to isolate abilities removes being able to see interactions and you cant see the build as a whole.
Even if it is just internal and not linkable, please add a dps meter. Make it a buyable add-on, whatever, just add it.
Edit: if you cant do that, then add a world boss option for the training dummy for the resilient tag
I agree and disagree at the same time. I mostly gauge my damage by the percent of health I take off when I’m in full swing of my build. If things die in one hit, including the bosses. I’m good for the moment. If instead I take off only 5% of their health with my best abilities, I’m either in the wrong difficulty level, or I need to change my build some and try again.
That being said though, the only thing I could see them adding is a combat log, not a DPS meter. That just displays in chat the damage dealt by what ability along with any damage you received and from what source.
DPS meters as we know them wouldn’t work in a Diablo game. A combat log would, but not a DPS meter that says you’re doing 1k DPS. The only time it would apply, for the most part, would be on bosses. Even then it wouldn’t be very accurate with all the moving required, invincible phases, etc.
Me haz idea. Niahahahahaaa. What about having the option to buy a cosmetic tshirt for our funny toons with a print of the highest crit damage number we did. So the other people can look at the shirt and say: ohh nice. stronk number. MVP member for our dc group.
And then you swap your build from S-tier into 17-damage build
Sure we only actually need a combat log. In my day I had to do the old school way of doing the math myself because meters didnt exist. I don’t understand why not add one if thats all it is doing is doing the math for you.
Just for the record, I am only in favor of a personal log in the dummy room. Not something like WoW that will cause toxicity.
A DPS meter wouldn’t really work, but a combat log should be beneficial to make sure certain effects where processing, and what was broken and not working correctly.
