I’ve been spending some time cooking on companion druid and I found that Ravens almost feel pretty good if you can get enough of the attack speed rolls for them.
I would love if they had some itemization that lets you focus on them, but companion druid right now seems entirely focused on wolves.
I figured the initial concern was that Ravens are invisible untargetable companions but since we have the ability to make all of our companions invincible there’s no reason not to have supporting itemization for ravens as well.
You currently can’t even really attempt to use Ravens as a comparable source of damage to wolves because you need to do an extensive amount of crafting to get enough attack speed rolls for them to feel good. One or two aspects that support them early would be great and potentially a unique later on too?

Would honestly like to see them change forcing you out of Werewolf form when you use a companion skill like Ravens, too tbh.
Idk if you can find it early, per se…but I’ve run into an Aspect for Druid regarding Ravens that allows your Ravens skill to change to a lightning-based skill, and the Ravens can stun enemies in the summoned circle of Ravens for a set amount of time.
Wait, there’s a druid class?
I really hope companion druid gets a little more love in 2.1, I wanna roll one in S7 (the only class I avoided S6 so far).

Wait, there’s a Wombat??? I can’t tell if you are being sarcastic or just having fun.
Always sarcasm and fun coming from me.
I started d4 at launch with a druid. Since then, when deciding which class to play, druid doesn’t even get a second thought. Maybe it’s me, or maybe the class truly is horrid. I don’t know.

haha! Sarcasm and fun? I guess you can have your cake and eat it too!
But yeah…I would guess it depends on which build you want to use, tbh. I use the Werewolf build with Wolves companions. Now, I’ve read that Werewolf Druid was nerfed at some point…not as much as Barbarian, though…but enough to affect it. I thought that the Landslide Druid was pretty good/strong. Not sure what the state of Storm Druid is at this point.
I should probably give DRU another go next season.
Barbarian has been a hard no since early access. He was hawk tuah’ing every 6 feet. Very offputting. What a silly reason to not play a class.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but this is a reference to spitting on a male’s genitals? If this is not allowed to be put in a post, even a little reference…I apologize in advance. Regardless…back to my main question…what do you mean by that? Was it related to Leap?
I am confused. I thought you said Barbarian was a hard pass since early access. Or are you referring to Druid?
Barbarian only came to mind after mentioned here:
Now, I’ve read that Werewolf Druid was nerfed at some point…not as much as Barbarian, though…
I wrote hocking loogies first pass, but since hawk tuah’ing has since become a thing, I used it. Although I would define it more narrowly as spitting, not so much the rest.
Main point being I was grossed out by the constant expectoration.
The first toon I rolled was Barbarian, waste binned him shortly after. Druid was the first class I put an actual effort into playing.
I know my posts can be literal novels sometimes, but I said this first, then what you quoted. I honestly enjoy WW Druid. I read somewhere that it had been nerfed, but afaik–it’s still a good build.
I’m write there with you on righting novels. I have to edit my post a number of times before and immediately after sending.
There was a great deal of werewolf inadequacy drama early on in the forums, but balance is an approximation, and as long as users demand perfection, we and devs will be experiencing ground-hog every few seasons for a given class.
I make a point not to care about what’s going on with classes other than the one I’m playing in a given season. It’s way less stressful.
Hello Subliminal,
I fully agree.
Since launch I’ve been trying to make a Raven build where I want to see the passive ravens rip opponents apart.
But the problem is getting the attackspeed low enough.
In previous seasons there were multiple players trying to get the attackspeed below 1 second. As far as I know this wasn’t possible, or nobody achieved it.
Stormcrow’s aspect is a nice try, but I think it only adds lightning damage to the active ability.
Agreed! That does sound way less stressful tbh. And there is a current bug or unintended consequence of using Shred atm…though people have told me it is intended to be that way, and shouldn’t be changed/fixed You can literally phase through a wall if there are mobs nearby you
Yeah. I’m definitely more focused on the passive portion than the active. They actually by default deal more of your weapon damage than wolves do and you can get a decent amount of them so the damage potential is there but wolves have one or two aspects over Ravens. I’m sure you could actually get them pretty respectable right now but they would need some interesting effect or just the damage bump to make them buildable as a main companion.
I’m not too concerned about people trying to spec into both either because it requires a lot of dedicated crafting to make them decent.
There’s a million different ways they could buff them up but I’ll leave that to them. I just want to use the birds instead of the wolves
