Can we get an Easy Difficulty?

I know I might get a lot of hate for it, but I think the game could use Easy mode as a Difficulty option right now. Even playing through Normal, the enemies rapidly scale up in level faster than you are able to keep up with through gearing. This is made noticeably worse by the reduction in the amount of gear and gold dropping. I don’t play Diablo because I want to feel like a wet noodle. I play Diablo for the power fantasy of killing a bunch of demons effortlessly. I just want to see the end of the Campaign and take in the scenery and the music without having to fight for my life constantly. Let the masochistic players who like to torture themselves have fun in Torment 11, but please don’t put the rest of us through Hell.

Normal is already easy. There is no challenge there, you can easily go through the game without any build guide, just add more skills on the abilities you want to use and that’s it.

How can normal be too hard? The only reason I can imagine if you have underleveled weapon.

The real answer here is the devs don’t play their game, they only pretend to and just tweak numbers. I honestly don’t have any issue with them adding another level below normal, if people need it.

i mean dont get me wrong, but normal is pretty easy if you equip items ^^ id personally say that the only way it could get any easier is to watch it via a stream. :S

may i ask what you are struggeling with on normal?

if you struggle with normal difficulty your itemization and / or your build in general is super bad. what most ppl do wrong while leveling is looking too much for affixes instead of pure stats. in 99% a blue or yellow weapon with more dmg will just boost your overall gameplay instead of holding on to a certain affix.

EDIT: keep the most important legendary affixes on amulets and rings and change the weapon every time you find one with more dmg.
this way normal difficulty should be playable with almost every type of ability

Yeah, all you need to do is equip the weapon with most dmg and imprint a dmg aspect for your corresponding core skill on your ammy so you don’t need to swap it every 5 minutes like the weapons.

Bonus points if you temper elemental surge on the weapon too.

I don’t want to sound like a mean person but wth? Are you playing with no gear and naked?

I just got to T3 and it’s all good. The only thing that surprises me is that I got here, went into a HT and killed the Maiden. Then went and looted several HT chests and when Im in town I look at my gear and it’s all 750? Umm… wut? Is only GA items at 800 now?

yes, only with GA items have level 800.

There is virtually no scaling between level 10 and 50, you can easily completely ignore gear for dozens of levels without it making a difference. Gear and enemies don’t really start to scale up until 51+, there is a very sharp increase in gear power at that point though enemies don’t appear to get much stronger on normal. You are expected at that point to jump up to torment.

The scaling is a mechanic they already thought about and preemptively addressed. They accelerated leveling so much that it would be impossible to keep your gear close to your level during the leveling process, so they made gear basically meaningless until endgame.

I personally wouldn’t play on easy, but see no reason for not having it either.

New expansion has far too many enemies bunched together, and the biggest advantage of most other arpg’s is being able to nuke large groups of enemies in one-shot, compared to the often tedious grind of them here. So I can understand wanting that power fantasy.

I equip almost every item I find. The main problem is that I only find about 5 items per level, so my item level is always well below the level of the monsters I am fighting. Which means that I am stuck with bad gear that hits like a wet noodle, especially against Elites which can take anywhere from 5 hits to 125 hits to kill, depending on how weird the stat squish gets. It gets to the point where it is just faster to ignore the monsters and run past them rather than bothering to fight them. They usually don’t drop anything anyway, so it feels like a waste of time to spend 20-30 minutes fighting packs of mobs just to travel to the next quest area.

If the monsters died faster (aka they weren’t bullet sponges) or if the monsters actually dropped a fair amount of loot, this would be less of an issue. I am never low on health, but killing anything takes way too long even on the Normal difficulty. It feels like always fighting at a disadvantage because all of your gear immediately becomes obsolete when you gain a level.

You can’t grind mobs to get better gear, because by the time a gear upgrade drops, you are already the next level and your gear becomes obsolete again. You also can’t buy better gear if you are playing Seasonal because you have no gold or materials, because gear drops are so rare. You can imprint an aspect maybe once every 5 levels because of how expensive it is. Same with enchanting / tempering / etc.

How did you know?

I might as well run around with no gear on. My Attack Power with no gear on (just a weapon) is 129. My Attack Power with full gear on (including 5 Legendaries) is 147.

No need for hate, more options are always better. If lots of people struggling they could add it.

But I find hard to imagine if you change your gear properly you can struggle on normal.
You should not care about affix at exping just use best weapon dmg you have and max armor/life you can get and you should be good.

I’m telling you that is exactly what I’m doing and every elite takes 20+ hits to down. A pack of elites with 5-10 mobs takes upwards of 200 hits to down and it drops one piece of gear if you are lucky.

even that isnt excuse.
I was leveling up through hard and even w/ a weapon 10 levels lower could kill stuff decently. To have issues in normal you reallly doing soemthing wrong.

Are your main dmg skill maxed to 5/5? Are you sure it’s normal diff?

Yes, I have my Basic and Core abilities maxxed out at 5/5. I’m on Normal.
