can we get a TRUE Sorc Hero ?? current one is now just different flavors of summoner
the class has leaned hard into conjure, we never really got builds for core skills to peak perform…
i miss Frozen orb in D2 where the orb spews out a cyclone of ice bolts
fire ball builds that trigger meteor maybe ?
chain lightning that didnt limit your casts to 3 ???
incinerate that could be used while moving like barb WW ??
…
i feel all i do is summon lightning spear or hydra… sadly the groundwork for a 10 ice blade attack speed stacking build is there until you limited and capped them, could work it frozen nova and all the 8 unique that tilt towards frozen/chill that never find themself in ANY build guide ?
idk im just thinking and had to post this

Pretty sure you can go with mass Meteor too
(although yes, with a bit of push capabilities reduction)
This is only true at the very top of the meta. There are plenty of non-Conjuration builds that work fine and are A or B tier. Pretty much any of our Core or Mastery skills can handle T4 in a good build; Frozen Orb and Firewall could use some love, but that’s about it.
It is certainly true that the top of the meta has been Conjuration-based since about S4 though; we pretty much went from Winterglass-FO to Lightning Spear for 4 seasons running and now to Hydra.

Agreed that Sorcerer in D4 is very conjuration reliant… but, this might be by the stereotypical depiction of the class as general from the D&D roots.
Sorcerers are more of Conjuration magic users, while Wizards and Warlocks have affinities with Evocation magic, Clerics are more inclined to Abjuration magic… and so on.
Diablo 4 devs/lore teams are just not that imaginative when cooking builds or ways to use the skill tree.
I stopped playing Sorc when it became Shepherds Aspect Druid.
I feel like they made the same exact mistake on a different class.
Find a high performing build that does NOT use lightening spear. Or in S9 where all builds are using Hail of Verglas and Axial Conduit for resource reduction yet don’t use either of those skills as these are “Hydra” builds. Many of those use ball listening with an aspect to trigger a free unstable currents… Yet they are “Hydra” builds.
IMHO this shows there is no correlation of aspects, uniquest, skills to create any viable Sorc using a limited set of skills for specialization.
fellow sorcerers, take a look, we should rightfully be able to summon Nagas and Phantom units!

I have been using an Arc Lash build all season. Admittedly most of my damage comes from unstable currents. I have made it to PIT 70 and once I refine my gear and add shako, RoSS i think I will top out at 90.
Works great for how I like to play, fast and lots of teleports to group mobs. It does fall short on bossing though.

I have pure cold Sorc (eternal and season). Odd mix of uniques but all cold. Iceheart Brais, Hail of Vergals, Starless, Tyrael… Ice shards, blizzard, frost nova, ice blades… Enchantments, fireball and ice shards… Broke T4, mid-level struggle at this point but still reworking. Very weak bosses, tweaked a bit in glyphs (still tweaking) improving boss rate that is now quicker than elites.
Not massively powerful but in crowds, insta-freeze shards, spreading with frost nova on death can clear the clutter quite impressively… Actually call can start triggering with just ice shards, just slower progression with the same effects.
Hydra is S tier.
Meteor is A tier.
Chain lightning is A tier.
Incinerate is B or A tier.
Ice Shards is B tier.
I even think charge bolt is A tier.
Many of these are all azurewrath builds.
Sorc is in a decent spot for build choice if you dont mind azurewrath.
Procs have been carrying a lot of builds these past couple of seasons. Without the massive overpower buffs to those procs players are limited to sourcing them through LH on items and triple master working to get their damage up to par.
This will ultimately lead to nerfs to proc damage in the future and probably to LH chance as well. That GA on azurewrath will be cut in half next season. Let’s enjoy it while we can.
Nothing needs to happen on Azurewrath builds. They are Tier A or so. Nothing to be worried about.
