We have Nature Magic and Shapeshifting but no Companion Basic skill.
For some reason, had this crazy image of a druid throwing small animals at enemies as a companion basic attack. As he throws it, he shouts the animal type: Squirrel! Marmet! Bunny! Snake! Robin! 
Actually, this would probably be a better use of the crow passive attack. Imagine if the basic companion attack directed the crow’s attacks.
To your point, Squirrel Girl in Marvel Heroes LOL. She was exactly what youre describing. She would literally throw squirrels at enemies.
I was thinking some sort of insect attack, but using ravens as a basic attack would be a cool mechanic as well.
The runeword I am using acts a lot like a basic attack. What it does is anytime I do damage and haven’t taken damage within 2 seconds it spawns a wolf. I can get about 20 wolves spawning and attacking. A basic skill could work like this for any of the companions honestly.
