Why give all the classes cool ultimate abilities but make us choose to have that or an extra ability with no ult. Just feels bad for class fantasy. Whats the downside to just giving everyone a separate ult button?

I think they just need to allow for macro abilities. The necromancer feels pretty bad with class trait of summoning taking up an ability slot.
No because this is a console/mobile game first pc second, A console controller can only have so many buttons so blizzard has to keep it simple.
d2r also doesn’t have ultimate abilities and is a super old game with minimal abilities. this is a 2023 game

yeah the CD is long on MOST of those skills you are taking AWAY DPS or utility for what ??? a ULT that can do LESS dmg then some of your equipt skills…and take 4x longer to come back again??
you are basically handicapping yourself using ULTs that take away skill bar…

FFXIV is on console and even people on PC will play it with a controller. The argument that the game can’t have more keybinds because console is null and void.
SBT are you a troll? D2R Is diablo 2 LoD just reskinned , the game is over 20 years old, just has updated graphics, nothing else is really changed, its all the same abilities, no new abilities

I say you get an extra button, but lose half of your skill points.
For the love of God yes…Ultimate abilities already feel super weak on most classes, the least we could do is have a dedicated button for them.
No, it is good to have to make decisions, and honestly some builds wont use ultimate. Learn to utilize what you have.

Ultimates really should not have their own button. That would make them mandatory. They should be balanced to be an equally viable choice to other skills.
That being said, it should be possible to get more skill slots in general.
Yeah, imo, make it possible to unlock 2 extra skill slots through the skill tree, but at a substantial skill point cost (not half). A choice between broad power (jack of all trades) or focused power.

Its easy to put ultimate on controller you hit the RB and LB buttons at same time. There are a few arpgs that utilize this. Hope blizzard figures that out.
