Can someone help check my tempering math assumption

Im pretty confused i have a greater affix +4 hurricane

First Tier 5% increases x 3 - .2 added every time i assume hidden in background result 4.6
1 25% upgrade moves it to 5.75 ??
second teir a further three 5% upgrades and it still sits at +5 not 6 yes

I have no idea what any of that even means.

Hey, I gave an explanation on another post here : Can someone explain this to me? (Masterworking) - #3 by SuperXDoudou-2211

The base value for Hurricane is +3, so you compute the .05 per masterwork tier from +3 (.15 per level of masterworking), not from the +4. The Greater affix give you .5 of the base value.

So :
No MW : 3 +1.5 (greater affix) =4.5 rounded down to +4
MW1 : 4.5 + 0.15 = 4.65 rounded down to +4
MW2 : 4.80 rounded down to +4
MW3 : 4.95 rounded down to +4

You will get +5 from MW4 (if you get the .25) or from MW5

thanks , i wish it was clearer that it doesnt go off the number of a greater affix. I got +5 at mw 4 when i hit 25% however ive worked it 3 more times and no movement to +6 i guess i need to go to about mw 10 or so to see it based of this calculation

If you got the bonus of MW 4 to Hurricane, you current value is 5.7
You should get +6 from MW 6

well that cant be correct im at mw 7 and not hit 6 yet

Then I don’t know how they actually compute it. You can try to simulate with the Maxroll planner, may be it’s more accurate

It is a % modifier not a Flat modifier.
It is not 4.5 + 0.15. = 4.65

I think it is done like this

It is 4.5 + (4.5 x 0.15) = 5.175

I think you are confused. It’s a % modifier from the base value, leading to a constant increase.
Every level of masterworking (except levels 4 8 and 12) increase the value of the affix by 5% from the base value.
The base value is 3, so each level increases the value by 5% of 3, which is 0.05*3= 0.15
However it seems there is some inconsistancy in the way the game rounds the result.

For Hurricane, the maximum with a Greater Affix and 3 Master Work Crit should be +8.
