Can someone explain why players in this forum complain about the game being "too easy" when

the Developers have created Hardcore play in D4 for players who want a harder game??
Does Hardcore need to be made harder for them??
I’m struggling with the game as it is and don’t want it to be harder. :grinning:

We want a challenging game, not a harder game.

A challenging game is fun.

A hard game is not.

At what point are you struggling with the game?

I want some push back. And it’s not only about how quickly everything dies. It’s also about how they feel harmless.

It’s not fun for me to walk around while everything, including uber bosses, just die when I look at them while they can’t even scratch me.

And yes, I was playing meta. But I play meta in other games and don’t have the same experience.

Is this your first day on the internet?

hardcore is not harder per se,
enemies have the same amount of hp and deal the same amount of damage.
you get the same loot and everything like in normal mode.

only difference is: should you die, you have to restart.

I’m not trying to pile it on, but this is one of the easiest games of the past decade. Also claiming hardcore is difficult is wild ngl.

I thought people were complaining the game was too hard and that putting rewards behind t4 content was bad because of that.

Some are.

Most consensus is that S7 was far too easy by being highly generous in loot drops with the Witch Zones.

Hardcore makes the game feel like the old Diablo with punishing mistakes and enhances it making it feel more Rogue-like. It doesn’t necessarily make it harder but does show the cracks of the game in regards to how it wasn’t its central focus.

I can see where some people are coming from there. I was able to gear up to the point where I was doing level 100 pits in less than 60 hours. I definitely plan on taking my time this next season instead of rushing so hard and so fast.

The problem is Hardcore mode is just adding permanent-death and nothing else. I would very much prefer an overhaul to hardcore mode but Blizzard is not interested in it whatsoever. So yeah, the game is extremely easy.

Pick a subject any subject it does not matter what it is.

There is such a huge difference in how you implement difficulty. I give you a very bad example. From “UBISOFT” … who else…

I played AC valhalla. There is a boss very early in the game. He spams 2 attacks that are pretty easy to dodge. But because Ubisoft games are a bit “clumsy” you sometimes get it.

So, on normal, you need to hit the boss 30 times and he needs to hit you 10 times. It’s mindnumbingly boring.

So i thought, let us raise the Difficulty to max.

You know what happens.Almost “Nothing”. The fight stays the same, he is not faster, not more diverse or anything. However… instead of you hitting him 30 times, now you need to hit him 400 times. And instead of 10 times, he will oneshot you.

This is without a doubt a hard fight. CAuse you need to hit him 400 times without getting hit yourself once in a game that is a bit clumsy.

This is a hard Fight, not a good fight. Absoluty not a good fight, it is dreadful.

There i lost my interest in the game. CAuse i knew either i play a dead boring :poop: easy game or every enemy becomes a bullet sponge.

This example also ilustrates very good why “scaling” is the lazy and terrible choice of adding challenge

I LOVED the fact that there were lots of early loot drops - as it stands now, it makes no sense whatsoever because you never get decent gear to actually succeed in the game…oh, unless you’re 16 years old and playing 18 hours a day (maybe). :pensive:

There’s nothing “cool” about HC, it’s just a mode that punishes hard your FIRST mistake

Some people like that kind of thrill but in general it misses the spot IMO

Challenge should come from above (not from below)

I dont see HC being “difficult” either. Its punishing, yes. But not difficult.

Hardcore is not harder, it can be ‘easier’… for the following 3 reasons:

HC players have a more cautious/attentive approach to combat; they tend to overgear/overprepare; and they tend to be more ‘experienced’ - making encounters skew in favor of the player. (Except when the player is brand-new or the game is especially buggy, b/c that can hinder things more in HC.)

Looks like “harder” here means less gear drops & a slower power increase. So… “grind” is your actual problem, by the look of it, not “difficulty” per se. Taking longer to reach the same power levels as before.

Devs wager the game is fun enough to make that feel less of a bother. I haven’t noticed any increase in “fun” since S5, except a few QoL improvements… if I had to psychologize the situation, I’d say you’re predicting the same thing: that the grind isn’t “fun” enough to compensate for “more grind”.

Also, I’m not sure “difficulty” will be particularly felt. My hunch is it’s mostly PR to attract players who were clamoring for more “challenge”.

I don’t think D4 studio understands the difference between “challenge” and “grind” anyway.

I agree, I have been playing D4 since launch, and have played every season. I have NEVER felt the game was too easy, and have found that “difficulty” is tied to T level and RNG. In order to do well at higher T levels, is entirely dependent upon lucky RNG. You must have the gear in order to move up in the T level, and for that matter in the PIt. If you are unlucky, which I tend to be, you never get decent gear, and struggle going up. The armor and resistance penalty is brutal, and you can’t mitigate it with gear, you won’t survive very well in the higher T levels.

I am currently concerned if I will be able to complete the season journey due to the requirement of T4 and killing the “Supreme Boss” with a specific boss power. Perhaps it won’t be an issue, but I won’t really know till I play. One thing for certain is I doubt I will think it is “too easy.”

For those that think it is too easy, stop playing the “super builds” or taking advantage of bugs or other exploitive mechanics. In Sesson 7, I barely made it to T4, and I only spent enough time there to complete the season journey, and went back down to T3. It was less fun, as it took longer to kill things, and I died way more often.

What build did you play? Just curious.
