Can Someone Explain Lucky Hit Please?

Let’s take a sorcerer with no lucky hit from gear.

Crit chance: 7%
Frost Bolt lucky hit chance: 40%
Elemental Attunement passive: Critical strikes have up to a 15% chance to reset a defensive skill.

So what are the actual odds of a defensive skill to reset?

Crit and lucky hit are entirely separate mechanics.

With a 7% crit chance, you have a .07*.15=1.05% chance to reset a defensive skill on each hit

If instead the skill said something like Lucky Hit: Reset a Defensive Skill then you’d have .4*.15=6% chance to reset, assuming you had no other lucky hit modifiers on gear

Im gonna ignore your numbers because theyre not really related to the equation.

Lucky hit proc is calculated by the following formula:

[Skill lucky hit chance * (1+Lucky hit chance increases)] * Effect lucky hit proc chance

So, suppose you have 10% lucky hit chance to heal, and a 15% lucky hit chance roll on your gloves, and that youre using whirlwind which has, suppose, 30% base skill lucky hit chance.

Your chance to heal with lucky hit will be:

[30% * (1+15%)] * 10% = 3,45%.

That’s not correct… There is no “base lucky hit chance.” There is only the skills chance… It’s not clear whether additional chance from gear is applied additively or multiplicatively… but it definitely doesn’t lower the chance lol

Elemental attunement with 3 points in it is 15% chance on a “lucky” “critical”. Meaning you need all three things to align.

.4 * .07 * .15 = .0042… or 0.42% chance on a hit.

If you want to maximize it you really need a very high crit chance (you can get 40% from above 100 mana) and fast hitting skills (e.g. ice shards, which while it has a lower lucky hit base, it hits very fast and often).

Ah yea. I didn’t realize it was lucky hit and crit. You’re correct.

The wording in this game is like a different language. Be straight up with us and tell us how it is!!

Never said it lowers the chance but indeed there is no base chance inherent to character, only to skill. The rest works like i said.
