Can players have/learn skilled trades (player driven economy) Please?

I know, Diablo is known for its NPC’s like the blacksmith, jeweler (gems), transmog , ex.

However it would be cool if we as players could learn skilled trades in D4. Like one player could learn blacksmithing. Another learn gem crafting or rune smithing. But each payer character could only learn one trade to level up. If you don’t have that skill, then you will need to pay an npc or another player to gem, socit, or rune your items for you.

I think this would really add to the game with a player driven economy. For the players that are willing to really work at it.
Or maybe just allowing players to learn the skilled trades instead of leveling up an NPC like in D3.

I would much rather my character be doing the smithing and crafting and learning new skills then just paying an NPC to do it for me.

no, thank you. D4 is not a crafting game. And the player driven economy is restricted, which is a good thing. I hope it stays that way or gets removed entirely.

Ya no. Go play WoW if you want professions.

What you are describing is better suited to MMO, which D4 is not. The game is already walking the line between open-world and traditional solo RPG, so they are unlikely to make drastic changes in that regard.

As others have said, this kind of thing is for MMO’s and not Diablo 4.

No thanks, especially with how crafting is in WoW now. If you weren’t in the rat race at the start (and abuse a day 1 exploit they ignored and allowed people to get away with) you weren’t making any money, professions became a chore to level and a huge gold sink. I say this because Blizzard likes to share ideas between their games, so a crafting system would probably be really similar to WoW.

You really need to come to terms with the fact that D4 is an MMO.

Good luck with convincing me about that when it has almost no focus on the social aspect and you can only have a handful of characters in one area.

Im one of these ppl who believe that category doesnt matter. Not adding a feature because its typical MMO etc is just silly imo.

However do i enjoy professions? Personally no. I rather farm monsters than running around hitting stones or fish etc. If it was added to d4 it would most likely end up like in lost ark. Bots will take over and it wont be beneficial to farm it yourself consider the effort and time it actually takes.

You really want to have this conversation again? You know the one you didn’t reppy to because the answet is obvious? Not only did I provide article, video evidence but about 10 isometric MMO’s with the exact features D4 has.

Also not sure wher hou have been. But the social aspect “is” the focus of D4. Lol

Comparing the social aspect of Diablo 4 to an MMO is hilarious. As for why I never responded to you, it’s because I considered it a joke and not worth the effort. I’ll give you one last response before adding you to the ignore list along with all the other people who ignore all the differences while pointing out the stupidest similarities.

As for your list of games, most of them are terrible, failed miserably, or barely even qualify as an ARPG. I gave a list of notable and successful MMO’s and you listed stuff that either failed or is very obscure.

The people who consider PoE an MMO are likely the same kind of people as you.

As for the rest of your argument, if you took out the world bosses and the instanced overworld, it would be nothing like an MMO. The arguments for what are an MMO have become so blurred because pretty much everything falls under the old definition of an MMO. Other than being able to party up, fight world bosses, and trade, which are all features that are based on multiplayer in general rather than MMO, there are no other activities encouraging social interaction which is the key point of an MMO.

Calling WoW and FF14 cookie cutter is stupid. FF14 failed and remade itself and WoW is close to being the origin. If you put the line-up of GW, GW2, EQ, EQ2, WoW, ESO, FF14, Runescape, New World, Tera, and Aion online and then ask if Diablo 4 fits among that line-up the answer is obviously no, because it isn’t part of the MMO genre.

As for if you disagree, I literally don’t care and will not be responding as you will be on my ignore list.

Look, we all know for a game be an MMORPG, it has to have fishing.

D4 doesn’t have fishing, and therefore isn’t an MMORPG.

Glad to have solved this debate.

Bad idea. Move on, people! Nothing to see here!

Failed or not MMOs they were and I never said I consider Path of Exile an MMO I said it gets thrown into the MMO category. and it’s not even close to being an MMO as Diablo is. I even mentioned how one of the lead designers for Diablo 4 confessed to his love of Lost Ark and how they borrowed features from it.

I’ll just copy paste again for your sake:

Then you need to get out more my friend.

Marvel Heroes (Forgot about this one last time and this was exactly like d4 Except no open world.)
Albion Online
Corepunk
Ragnarok Online
Fractured
Ultima Online (1992)
Devilian
Drakensang Online
Mu Online
Mu Legend
Tree of Saviour
Wild Terra 2
Mad World

Hell, even POE gets piled up into the MMO category on MMO websites and it has less MMO Elements than D4.

All MMOs and All ARPGs. And some of them share pretty much everything with D4, to the shared world, trading, boss mechanics, classes, no holy trinity and let’s not forget Blizzard encouraging people to group not just for multiplayer but straight up said for better drops on the livestream. D4 even borrows a lot from Lost Ark. David Kim who was lead systems designer for D4, even professed his love for Lost Ark during development. He was also principal game designer for WoW.

Also D4 shares a lot with Diablo Immortal which is also considered an MMO. You are just comparing cookie cutter MMOs like FFXIV and WOW. There are plenty of other MMOs out there and one of the main reasons why D4 is being praised again by the media, the content creators etc. Is the MMO Aspects/Elements. There’s even hundreds of threads here on the forums from the community calling it an MMO.

And no GTA nor COD have enough MMO elements to call them MMOs they don’t even get close, but Diablo 4 does. I provided plenty of evidence. The only evidence you provided for D4 not being an MMO is because Blizzard doesn’t want to call it one. But like I said the line is extremely blurred. And Blizzard not wanting to call D4 an MMO comes more from a marketing perspective. The only feature missing from D4 to be a full blown MMO is a party/dungeon finder and global chat. I’m not adding raids, because a lot of MMOs don’t have raids and still are MMOs.

If it looks like a duck, it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck, then it must be a __________.

Even Asmongold, was ranting on one of the most recent videos, about how Blizzard can say this is not an MMO but it has all the makings of an MMO. So technically Blizzard are the only ones staying away from the term.

But…

D4 is walking like a duck, and quacking like duck, so it must be a duck. Despite what Blizzard is saying and one would be blind to deny that.

Diablo 4 is not technically considered an MMO. But the game is delving deeper into the genre than ever before with its shared open world, world events you can take on with other players, and co-op and PvP systems that blend seamlessly into the world.

I didn’t expect Diablo 4 to be my next MMO

Blizzard is still calling Diablo 4 an action-RPG but there’s no denying its very shared world.

That is a NO from me. Thank you.

Nice idea to destroy the game!

Trying to be constructive but not quite succeeding

No thanks, keep that stuff for WoW. :beers:

I talk to people in PoE for trading and crafting dozens of times per day. I am likely to never talk to another person in D4. You are calling D4 an MMO?

I’m just curious because no one has actually given me a real answer yet…

But how is an open world that’s capped at less than 20 players at a time considered “massive?” Is an MMO not a massively multiplayer online game? What is so massive about less than 20 people?

Forget all other fallacious comparisons between D4 and MMO games. This is a simple question that anyone insisting that D4 is an “MMO” should be able to answer.
