Hey All!
I’d be very intrigued if someone who’s a bit more knowledgeable can explain to me if this is a bug or was suppose to happen.
So essentially I was in pit 70, boosting someone. Nothing too interesting - just pit 70 ( I’ve been doing 80 and such ) And then all of a sudden the Elias shade comes out, casts his fire projectiles which go in a circle and then instead of continuing to spread, as if they hit an invisible barrier and then all got reflected and SHOT right back at me like a minigun.
I was wondering if this is the actual mechanic of this particual pit shade or if this is a bug ? I was also using the bottle wind barrier and I do remember in S7 there were some reflecting bugs due to people using a barrier.
Has anyone seen this before ? Would be grateful if you could shed some light - if you guys know anything about it.
Here’s the video : youtu.be/rFTx4oyj0W8
Thanks,
Athorax

So I’ve been doing some digging. At the moment of the shade appearing the projectiles will go and ‘‘attack’’ the exact zone/spot that you are standing on. And since I was distracted talking and not paying attention to the screen - I didn’t move. If I had moved I think I would’ve survived.
I’m doing pits on eternal now trying to find the Elias shade to confirm it’s a mechanic and not a bug. So far it looks like a mechanic, but we’ll see… I’ll keep digging.
IT IS strange though. Frist time this happens to me too!
P.S. 100% A Normal Mechanic and NOT a bug. I was at the wrong spot at the wrong time. GG. ^^

Elias has 2 types of attack.
-
One that spawn the projectiles around you. They will hover for a while and move with you at the center. Then they stop and after a delay they shot at the center. If you stayed there you are probably dead, but only 1 bullet should not kill you.
-
The other spawns the projectiles around Elias himself. They will also shot towards the center, at Elias, so the project that appear on the right will go to the left. These projects can be “broken” by walking into them while they hover around Elias. This will only deal a small fraction of the damage and it is possible to clean them all if you have enough defense/life. But once they shoot you should dodge… 1 bullet will deal more damage than breaking all of them.
These 2 are separate shades and do not change for that boss.
The first one is way easier to see, dodge and survive.

alright, after trying some pits and standing farther back to observe shadow Elias, its not new, i just wasn’t paying attention to how the attack shoots inward, then spreads out again.
by the way, does anyone know if all the shadow boss attacks are shadow-type, or do they use a variety of elemental types?

I feel like some are shadow and some fire. I will do some more digging - would be lovely if anyone knows for sure - but I’ll get back to you.

seems like this was raised before in the forum:
→ what type of damage are shadows of pit bosses considered?
but i think it already got revamped.
As others have said, it’s completely normal.
When he puts orbs around himself you want to stand on the same side as the orbs if possible - not the opposite side and especially not close to him or you will get shotgunned.
If caught on the wrong side just be sure to move away - much easier to find a gap and even if you don’t just one shouldn’t kill you
