Campfire destroyed my will to play

I haven’t bought the expansion yet, but I probably will… the changes don’t seem terrible, some of them actually sound really good.

However, I just can’t bring myself to log in knowing that anything I find will be garbage in 4 weeks… In the past, I could always farm for items to pass on to my eternal toons, or farm boss mats etc…

I’m currently logging in for 15 minutes every other day and running a couple Duriels or Hordes, then thinking what’s the point and closing it…

At least in D3 we could always farm paragon that would roll over to our NS toons…

Guess I should go touch grass…

This has happened pretty much every season and im tired of it. What’s the point of this game at all? I mean if everything keeps changing fundamentally every three months, then we essentially get a new game every three months. Too much change, too quickly just p’ses the general population off.

I want a stable environment in which to kick back and game in, not eat a green banana every three months that only becomes palatable by the end of the season only to have it taken away right before i can bite into it and another green banana given to me again…this is torturous. The devs are using the player as an experimental chimp, driving them nuts in the process.

When is this game going to be stable enough to enjoy without fear of fundamental changes? I mean the average player is running around with overwhelming anxiety in their head that everything they are doing is completely worthless within the longterm realm of this game. It’s causing some players to either get coldfeet or remain in denial about the torturous cyclical nature of this game.

I’m just wondering what’s the ETA of a stable gaming environment? I 100% believe we are still in BETA.

You make great points. Agree totally

Exactly, I always play season with a new build, but I like to play eternal where gold and materials are not a problem. I can test variations of my build without any problems.

One of my favorite reasons for playing eternal.

I haven’t played since the campfire. There’s no reason to as it would just be a complete waste of time.

That’s the only response you’ll get here.

Completely agree OP. Haven’t bought the expansion yet and after hearing about the upcoming changes, don’t think I will. D2:R has been scratching the Diablo itch quite nicely lately, so much so that I’ve stopped playing D4 altogether.

I really do want the game to be better, but there have been way too many drastic overhaul changes that I’ve lost interest.

I get the impression people think VoH will take them out of the beta.

I’m fully expecting VoH to introduce a slew of new issues that will keep the game in beta for much longer, causing more drastic changes.

2.0 pretty much changes the game same like D3 RoS did so if you were following its story you can expect what happens. People reach new max paragon level then start complaining just the same like when they hit 100. Devs make it unlimited again. Add more torments. Then buff weak builds by absurd numbers. Then existing torments are too easy so they add more and circle repeats.

What big change is happening that’s going to stop you from being able to play your eternal character?

I’d rather play a constantly changing and evolving game, than a stable $hiHy one.

Then stop making campfires mate the smoke is making you go batty.

Honestly some ppl can’t handle camping at all

Just because something changes and evolves doesnt make the base game any less $hiHy

Same could be said for humans on forums

I always find my toons becoming garbage after every season ends because of two reasons:

  • There is nothing to do in eternal
  • The builds become weaker when they get into eternal because of balance changes or lost of seasonal power

In truth those current live service games are just illusion of good. Every update makes you interested for a short while until you remind yourself this is still the same game.

I often see people nowadays acting like if game not getting constant updates with content is bad and boring. Always reminds me of Chess that is still not dead game. Point is if core gameplay isn’t fun and addicting, no new content will save it.

I by no means meant to say that a game can’t be good and stable. We simply didn’t get one in this case.

I do play D2R HC sometimes. My characters always eventually die. Just learn to enjoy the process, not the outcome.

I feel the same.

Knowing all hard earned gears are doomed next month, whats the point pushing?

If this happends every season, then whats the point farming good loots?

My eternal realm stash is empty as void since nothing remained usable after few seasons of nuking.

This is direspecful to loyal players.
Forces people to have limited resources
And easily pigeon hole people to chase streamer meta if you are serious for character progression

Having a ton of skins for each class, and have to delete it lmao

Huge bunch of comedy
