Soo I would like to point out again, like I do from time to time, remind Blizzard forums employes …maybe you actually read this and pass it somewhere to devs.
Campaign, guys, it still needs fixing and major rework since you broke it in S4
There are players who likes the game not just PIT or goes straight to adventure mode. Currently it’s becoming very boring to replay the game, since it’s broken on so many levels. So here are some things that are wrong with base game :
Playing whole campaign + side quests from start makes you max level in A3.
Rushing only main quest line + some strongholds along the way will make you max level right before you fight Lilith(kinda OK, but still WAY to powerfull before you reach her)
Rewards from side/main quests in original game are 1 yellow item, which is completly irrelevant in current system on levels 25+ (side quests in Nahanthu are obviously fixed and are corrected to suit S4 Loot reborn /S6 )
Amount of exp. gained form side quest is way too high, amount of exp. from main quest is HUGE (getting whole level is ridiculous)
some quests and areas of old game are still “tuned” to old system, meaning that there are not enough creatures spawnig and/or they spawn to slow…leading to wierd situations.
Mostly apply to all quest like: survive the ambush or when NPC is opening gate/barrier/hellfire
some quests like fe. Meshif escort through desert are again tuned to old system, they doesnt make sense now - no damage to character = no fear of desert = prequest of finding the guide through “dangerous desert” thus doesnt make sense
story bosses up from Act 2 (Astaroth) are not scary and fight is meaningless, they need health boost if current OP char system is to be kept
with that said, it makes story immersion WAY worse, NPCs are preparing you for tough quest, scary fight and then you kill the boss in matter of 5sec ? After that Lorath tells you that “surving and killing lesser evil Andariel is a feat” feels laughable. Again, easy fix, boost HP, not sure why I have to wait 1 year + to fix that
not unable to switch difficulty to Penitent , due to the above factors - making character way to OP, is frustrating and forces us to RUSH the campaign so we can switch difficulty and then get back to rest of campign and finishing side q - not fun
strongholds became way too easy, again deu to S4 Loot reborn and not boosting bosses accordingly
Intentionally downgrading, not using tempering is NOT fun. Obviously player want to find and use best gear along the way as well as empovering the character with available boosts.
Dunno, there is prolly way more, but can’t recall everything from top of my head. Maybe put 4 - 8 guys form your Q&A team to replay whole game and you see for yourself …unless you alrady know this, but dont care
Oh one more thing doing story in PARTY…
Well WAY too easy - are monsters stronger like it was in D2 ? I dont think so, they die like flies.
Graphical bugged NPCs - like missing half of the body etc…
Again bugged NPC - like 50%+ NPC are doubled when doing side Q in party This is ridiculous. Like each party memeber has it’s own NPC with him
minor bugs on main Q line, doesnt show text or talks to the whole party, skips the dialogue …hard to describe, just ask Q&A
Other then that…looking forward to S8
Let’s hope campaign will be OK - I always start with with it.
Well it would make a story once again more immersive for new players(As well as US who play campaign). And yes, they/we exist There were topics here about that, cant find them now, but yes ppl who bought this game complained about reaching max level in A3 and feeling way to powerfull, killing everything and not being to able raise the difficulty.
That’s the key there, why it isn’t fixed. Major rework = major resources/time that maybe that takes from other things. And since people skip campaign, and don’t need to do it for expansion campaign, it goes low priority. I wish the campaign was something you could do at max level to see how high of a difficulty you could do it on. I’d play the campaign more often as something else to do when bored of the season.
There are several groups of players that Blizzard doesn’t care about… oh, hell, except for streamers and cash shop whales Blizzard doesn’t care about any of us… but they show special disdain for PvP, HC, and folks that want to play the game any way but as a seasonal grind fest. They said, “Play your way” but what they really meant is “Play our way… or else”
The campaign, even VoH, has several bugs in it that have existed since release and have never been fixed. All of these issues come from the top though… the decision makers gutted the development team to the point they can crank out a new season every three months and don’t have the man power to deal with anything else. It’s why QoL changes take years instead of weeks or months to make it into the game.
It’s a billion dollar game designed to milk as much from the cash shop as they can until they drive the IP into the ground. As long as people buy battle passes and skins they’re not going to do anything about actually fixing the game in any significant way. Just look at the Mendeln situation… how many seasons was it broken? And user testing showed it’s still missing several key features even after the claimed “fix”.
My point was it’s not really fixing a problem. Now it is giving people what they want, but wouldn’t say it’s necessarily a problem that needs fixing at the moment, just a nice feature for those who want it. I’m all for more options though.
It’s a problem from the perspective that the campaign is too easy. Letting people play it on higher difficulties solves that problem.
You’re being silly by ignoring that what you perceive to not be a problem and using that as a baseline for legitimate concerns about campaign difficulty being way too easy lol.
Fair enough, I’ll concede it’s a problem for people such as yourself and the OP. Doesn’t change my stance that I’m all for allowing people to access the campaign whenever they want.
It’s one less thing for the vocals in the “nothing to do” camp. I played thru the betas enough times that I was sick of campaign start by s0. But I’ve long waited to have that church rise up against me in a s8 t4 potential difficulty lol.
They want to be able to access the campaign at any point in the game. So let’s say you make a new character, you opt out of the campaign. You reach level 60, change it to T1 and you can jump into the campaign at level 60 on T1 difficulty, so it would scale up with you.
D3 allowed this. You could access the campaign anytime you wanted. At any level, and at any difficulty you wanted. Some of the seasonal objectives were tied around it, depending on the season of course. Such as beating the entire campaign from start to finish on the Torment 10 I think, within so many hours.
