Campaign Story Feedback

Diablo’s lore is great, but it’s story and characters, IMO, are always lacking. After finishing the campaign, here’s my humble unnecessary opinion:

  • All characters: too little exposure or details to care for them.

  • Inarius: is here just for the epic CG. It could be cut out from the final product in favor of developing anything more useful than him.

  • Horadrim stupidity: how the f*** the order is not f***** big? 2 f******* persons? 3 with Elias! After so many bs happening in Sanctuary they should know better that there are strenght in numbers.

  • “We have no other option” trope: the ending is just full of this plot device: “Oh we need to use the X, no other option”; “Oh we need the help of Y, no other option”; “Oh we need to Z, no other option”… Yeah, pretty lazy.

  • “I need to do this alone, will not elaborate further” trope: another bs plot device. Seriously, Neyrele going rogue at the end is just dumb. Any person with an IQ greater than 0 would consult his fellows about what to do next.

What are your thoughts? Maybe I’m just a bitter salvage peasant that can’t appreciate a good story. If so please enlight me.

the story was so forgettable, that i cannot even put my opinion,
was that bad

blue lore quests are way better
we got Lyndon, our old scoundrel friend
we got Johanna the crusader lady
we got to help out druids in scoscglen
and witches in havezar

and yes neyrele can f stick this stone in her forhead allready, with her 1 hand,
dont care

In the beginning I was really looking forward to the story with Lilith, in the end it was just a superficial 0815 story with Lilith. Disappointing.

In my opinion, great potential was wasted here.

Yeah, the first two acts in fractured peaks and scosglen were good (minus rathma and the prophesy bollocks). After that the quality just… tanked.

If you followed D1-D2 lore/cinematics, maybe because I was a kid at the time but it made a larger impact and gave the “ooh crap” feeling when going to the next act.

D4 we were shown the intro movie so many times that the ending was the exact same thing just extended… it didn’t feel that much impact. It’s like Fast and the Furious or Star Wars where we remember how good the first batch was then slowly became mediocre.

It’s strange… The intro scinematic to D4 is fantastic. But still, the enthralled preaching by the 3rd victim for some reason never left as an harrowing feeling as any of the diablo 2 cinematics.

Quite liked the zealots part of the invasion into hell though.

And let’s be honest. If I had to choose between dad and little daughter.
Then dad would have been out

And no, I don’t hold grudges because he never left me anything good in d2.
