Buy 3 gear sets or Baldur's gate 3?

So I want to start off by saying i like Diablo 4 I really do but at this rate the game and mostly the company running it are wearing me down. Yes theres fun to be had but also alot of ignored bugs that should have been fixed long before the seasons started. They can’t/won’t add much new content or armors to the seasons yet roll out new $25 usd to nearly $40 cad after tax per skin set not even including emotes and back trophies… Yeah sure it’s just cosmetic it’s not needed to progress but with completion lovers and people whom are just overly compulsive (like me) I feel preyed upon and targeted in a bad way. Blizzard knows what we look for in gaming and knows locking most of the best looks in game behind such insane pay is just disrespectful to the player base. Theres a right way to implement these pay walls and this is for sure doing it the wrong way. I spend a decent amount of time in game and out of game contemplating and trying to rationalize paying for the 11500 platinum bundle to get a few more necromancer skins which it wouldnt even get all of them and thats not to mention the many other skins for the rogue or sorceress that io would like to buy and likely would at a decent price tag. Sure theres going to be trolls here trying to justify the price tag in one way or another (usually very immature or ill thought out responses) like how free to play games also charge alot for skins or how some of the idk 20 in game skins are better but thats really irrelevant and will only get worse since new skin sets are released daily it seems. At this point i feel like i am only playing the game to justify the money i now feel i have wasted on this and its in no way a reflection on the actual game as if these ill natured business practices were not employed I would have no ill feeling towards the game and be enjoying it and paying them more money for it. When you start to feel wronged and slighted you also start to lose the fun and thats where im at here… they value micro transactions above actually fixing the problems that the developers have stated are big problems themselves so why should i support that? I feel dumb for buying into this in the first place. It would surely increase my enjoyment of the game to unlock the cool flashy stuff locked behind the paywalls and they are wall’s i’d buy into if the price were right. So ive been asking myself do i justify in my mind that 4 character skins are worth $151 CAD or do I just simply walk away, learn my lesson from blizzard and then support a game like baldurs gate that treats me like a valued customer while also saving alot of money on top of that brand new game purchase? I know folks will combat this saying they are different games then whatever i could buy a ton of stuff in path of exile, buy warhammer martyr, and grim dawn with all the amazing grim dawn expansions and still save money compared to 4 cosmetic class exclusive diablo 4 skins. When it’s put that way its a no brainer isn’t it?

BG3 is a completely different experience so no telling if you would like it or not. You kind of have to explore every inch of the map to find quests and xp, loot most things along the way to be able to afford “okay” gear and resurrects, and it’s brutally punishing compared to D4.

But it is fun overall IMO and very interesting compared to D4. Just play on easy if you want to not have a huge step up in difficulty from D4

you could always sue them for “predatory marketing” they did with fortnight and won. you could get all your money back if you filed a grievance …

Tbh you can save on resurects by save scumming.

Withers being in the game already makes the game much easier than a real DnD campaign, i try to ignore him as much as possible.

But yeah BG3 is probably my GOTY, i refunded my PS5 version and just bought it on PC, couldn’t wait lol.

Played it like 25 hours in 3 days.

I do think it won’t be for everyone, game is relatively hard unless you’re familiar with a lot of DnD gimicks already, its very slow and exploration heavy.

Spent a good couple hours walking around with no quests until i figured out how to get into the Underdark by accident (i yeeted a phase spider in a cliff with Eldritch blast (yeah yeah i’m playing ez-mode Sorlock to learn the game) and figured i’d try jumping into the hole as i thought it was weird there was a WP there for no reason).

Haha yes. Save scumming is simply the smart thing to do. If you full wipe you go back to your last save anyway so why not accelerate the process XD

I haven’t been impressed by any skins - at all. Maybe a couple of the Necro tmogs but that’s about it. To each their own.
The Rogue pieces…ugh.
The only thing I’d consider buying would be 1. More Colors. 2. SOLID Coloring(all black, all white etc.).

The only thing predatory is their Pricing. Well that and the fact everything is “Class Locked” for such a huge premium $.
4.99-9.99$ usd tops.
They’d sell far more and EARN far more in the long run.
Sadly corps forgot all about ‘earning money’ they just feel entitled to it and think they should print it hand over fist.

cosmetics are cosmetics

just make do with whatever you get from recycling equipment and from the battle pass

the rest is just way overpriced.

actual new game > cosmetics

also ; if you find it to be predatory (though it’s overpriced yes) you shouldn’t play LOL or many other game with as much overprice if not more be it in term of price and quantity of bundles/sets

to the title:
if that choice was mine, I’d definitely buy a game for the money instead of cosmetics.
Cosmetics will come and go, even better ones down the line (usually).
Sale prices, etc…

I would advise getting BG3. I can’t tell you how long it’s been since I played a modern game of this quality and scale WITHOUT microtransactions. Even if you don’t personally enjoy the game, it’s still worth the purchase because it sends a message to the broader game development community that we’re fed up with microtransaction hamster wheel games with no soul.

Don’t buy either overpriced skins or over hyped games.

Baldurs Gate 3 is amazing. I got the cracked version of it, and it was so good i went and bought the actual version of it. I would highly suggest it.

Neither the one nor the other.

This was all very much a rhetorical question, I am fully aware that its better to buy baldurs gate with my money or heck anything and thats just a point Blizzard needs to see. They are only driving away paying customers from now and to the future with these disrespectful business practices. I do like diablo 4 …i like it alot and in different circumstances I would buy at least 2-3 cosmetic sets per class or more but at these prices… I’d be a damn fool… as tempting as it may be to bring more enjoyment to my diablo playtime

BG3 is a good game, I have not played a turn based rpg in years and took me some time to get use to it again but I am glad I did. Larian did an outstanding job, my only beef is no Shadow Knight.

Thats exactly where I stand now. i never had a pc back when diablo 3 was released but I heard about how glorious the start was to that game so how many years later I really thought I wouldnt be a part in one of their awful game launches. Blizzard didnt learn lessons or correct themselves after the disaster launch of diablo 3 but i will for sure not buy another blizzard title. Simply put there are similar options to diablo out there these days that don’t make you feel dumb for buying in and supporting them

Why are some people still comparing this game to BG3?
What are these people smoking?

At this point you could even write: “Buy 3 gear sets or Payday 3”
BTW you don’t have to buy cosmetic skins which are literal money sinks and whoever buys these can only blame himself for his/her stnpidity if that person is not satisfied with his/her own investment.

Buy 2 games that I can get 500+hours fun out of or rent D4

Holy block of text batman.
