Butcher's Cleaver unique should do what the Butcher does

Without going into the whole contradiction of why they put a fear on a weapon used by a melee class, when a melee class wants enemies close and not far away, they should change the Butcher’s Cleaver weapon’s unique aspect so that it becomes similar to what the Butcher can do.

Since it seems they really want a roll on how good an aspect can be, even on uniques, the “100% chance on critical hits” can apply something like a stun since that’s what the Butcher does, and the part that can roll with a good or bad chance can be a chance to grip in an enemy target with the hook the Butcher uses.

That’d make the weapon so much better for a melee class, and fit in better thematically speaking since it’s “the Butcher’s weapon” so to speak.

would like it if it randomly pulls enemies to you or gives you a rage buff instead.

Well, something to do with berserking or fury generation in general would indeed fit and be nice, but maybe I phrased it poorly. I meant for example that with each critical hit on targets, it has a chance (not guaranteed like the suggested stun), to send out that Butcher’s hook to grip in a random distant target. It’d help stack enemies and for example if you’re only fighting 2 enemies and one of them is designed to create distance from you like a succubus for example, then this random hook would help against that.

Ehh…I like what it does. I mean it both fears AND slows the target by up to 75% (lowest I think I saw was 61%). I’d be right there with you if all it did was fear cause then I’d consider it a useless item (at least for my Barb).
I just did a small test run with it (dropped for me today) and even though (overall) I’m doing less damage I find I’m taking less damage when I can get that fear/slow to apply (which happens a lot). Add to it all of your buffs on CC’d targets and you can do some pretty good damage.
It would be great if it proc’d on bosses but I have feeling it’ll just apply a CC’d “affect” or maybe a small window of Vulnerability (not that either are bad but we both want the weapon to FULLY work). I just wish they’d make it so we can reroll stats even on Unique weapons/gear.

Wouldn’t it be cool when you lose heatlh you get a atk speed boost and when you kill a mob it drop meat that heal and grant a buff if you pick it up i would loved if the butcher clever did something like that

When I used the weapon a skull appears above the target and they turn and “run”. I don’t know what to tell you beyond that. They do definitely run at least with that weapon’s effect. Granted because of the slowing effect they don’t run very far.

Something like that would be great. Make it so w/e you crit you’d gain the Beserker buff and yeah if you kill an enemy either give a flat amount of health gain or maybe a temporary HoT effect would be great as well. Still the effects it does have are pretty decent.

If you use Penitent and Butcher’s with any sort of reliable Stun system proccing all the time, Bosses get Staggered really fast. I was able to do NMD 50 at level 65 because of that.

I thought the boss I went up against just a few hours ago seemed to stagger really fast. My bleeds have a decent chance of making the enemy stunned so that with the Butcher’s weapon must have been what did it. Good to know. Now all I need to do is get a couple of great 2handers to help me replace the stats I lost equipping Butcher’s weapon…and Bold Chieftains Aspect (the one that reduces shouts cd) and I should be set. :stuck_out_tongue:

Butcher’s Cleaver is technically applying 2 forms of CC, a Slow and Fear. With Stuns and Penitent that gives you 4 forms of CC rolling constantly.
