Building upon "skill ranked tier" system and skill behaviors

With the new updates to skill tree where you get buffs to skills when you reach tier 5…

It would be awesome to keep goin with this and increase each skill every 5 ranks… So at 5 ranks, 10 ranks, 15 ranks.

It would be awesome to get “extra skill points” (1-3 points depending on source)…of our choosing rather than a “dmgx” on gear, aspects , enchantments, tempers, etc… this would also help with dmg balancing and bug issues.

This way we could have more skill points where we see fit. This way “our skills” do the dmg… not all the buffs elsewhere… thiis way we dont sacrifice gear, aspects, encht, etc for dmg and can build into our custom builds more.

If skills got “improved extra powers” every 5 ranks then this would be a great way to receive the dmg in skills rather than just dmgx rolls.

For example:

With Sorc…

    ** Hydra **
Rank 5:

Gain 1 extra Cold head w blue ice breath, + 25% hydra dmg, + chill dot dmg.

Rank 10:
Gain 1 extra Lightning head w yellowblue lightning bolts, +50% hydra dmg, +shock dot dmg

Rank 15:
Gain a Giant 3-headed hydra (fire\ice\lightning) thats in the center of your hydra circle…
This giant hydra empowers hydras to have increased 25% attack speed, 25% dot, 25% lucky hit chance, 25% crit hit chance, 50% dmg.

  ** Fireball **
Rank 5:

Throw 1 extra cold fireball off ice + 25% fireball dmg , + chill dot dmg

Rank 10:
Throw 1 extra lightning fireball + 50% fireball dmg, + shock dot dmg

Rank 15:
Empowers all fireballs swirl around and twist as they travel with 50% larger radius,
25% attack speed, 25% dot, 25% lucky hit chance, 25% crit hit chance, 50% dmg.

This can be done to all skills for every class really opening up skills making them feel new and powerful.

Perhaps at every 5 Ranks…
Additional to how the upgraded above…
the skills have 2 smaller branches on each side where we can choose upgrades to elements of skills or where one focuses on DOT and the other is Crits, vulnerable, etc…
This is similar to the 2 enhanced nodes we have now for each skill, but it opens up at each tier rank of 5,10,15.

This will make the skill tree look like a tree haha. The system is already there its just adding and improving it.
We need more of “changing” the way a skill behaves, looks, feels, how its dmg is applied, element changes, etc…

That was the best thing about D3… is the runes to change the behavior of skills based on builds and preferences. This way 1 skill basically becomes 3-5 different skills

I think this is a very good idea, the visual upgrades of your examples in particular.

Some skills have a similar appeal already by reducing cooldown with each skill point or increasing duration. Property changes and upgrades should exist on every skill. Makes the tree a lot more interesting.

Yeah it will be more streamlined.

Then would be really cool if at max rank of a skill (15 in this case) you unlock a custom slot to link another skill…
So when using the max ranked skill the other linked skill is also used.
(just like the “companion skill system”)
