After playing path of exile for a few days and getting to T16 red maps I decided to come back for the midwinter event. My god the builder spender stuff is just horrible. I do not understand why they continued that design from D3. It is unfun to constantly hear your character say they need more resource and such.
PoE your have resource problems for maybe like 10 to 15 levels and then you be zoomin. Its just more fun that way, hell even last epoch does it better and grim dawn. Diablo is the only ARPG I can think of that has this stupid resource system.

Agreed, I hate it, but I still like playing Diablo 4…
I’ve said it since beta.
Builder Spender type of gameplay is awful. Let me have 1 main skill and load up rest of my bars with movement, utility, buffs skills etc.
Let the basic skills be something you can use as a replacement of a mana potion (PoE) until you sort out your resource regen/leech or whatever else so you dont need it ever again. Some builds can do this already in D4 but its far from super comfy. Sometimes you do run out of resources every now and then even on builds going out of their way to try to handle it.
It is bad for 90% of builds. It is telling that a lot of build try to get out of the system if it can. This system is just horrible and I hate that it moved from D3 to D4 >.>
Build/spender is better than 1 button gameplay. 1 Button builds are non gamer/casual crap. The problem is that other than rogue and barbarian they really dropped the ball on executing the idea. Especially with sorcs.

What classes in d3 used a builder? You sound like you didn’t even play d3. Every class in d3 flies all over the map with endless resources.

Early on in D3’s lifespan it was difficult to break the builder/spender system. Post RoS the only class that I remember having an issue breaking it was Crusader until later on.
Again though, this is perhaps something they should take note of. It existed and was eventually trivialized in D3 by either breaking the need of the build or turning the build to the main damage source.
D4 has a lot of the same… So why do we even need a builder early in the game?
Do you ever feel like a lot of people say they hate d3, but a lot of their ideas sound like they are describing d3?
I’d need examples as outside of the armory system as nothing else is coming straight to mind.
In general, I feel like D3 developed into a very good “action game” that ended it’s RPG elements too early by quickly giving you 95% power. I played the game through the season where Hydra was buffed significantly. I hit 130s GRifts in HC on the Sorc that season and it was basically the end of D3 for me because I didn’t feel like there was much else to advance on past in D3 after however many years and 20+ seasons I had been through.
