Hey just wanted to share my thoughts on what to try for season 3, going full meteor does not appeal me, but I was thinking in my blizzard build I always have a spare skill I can change around, and was thinking of using meteor as a cooldown with the new unique, it should work nicely, since elemental damage boosts all types and meteor is now a cooldown it synergizes well, blizz the enemies with ice spikes and throw 2 meteor charges when available… if it works great and if not I think I will change on the go…
Blizzard Spikes + Meteor Cooldown sounds lovely on paper.
Stacking CDR, perfect roll on helm, and running Ice blades, I reckon you could take a 9 seconds Meteor Cooldown down to 3-4 second? I’m not sure how easy it’ll be to sort the paragon board to properly buff both Spikes and Fire at the same time, I guess I’ll go for 1 vuln cold node and 1 of the fire nodes, or both possibly.
I would also try this with the Fire Bolt and Firewall Enchantments(note: if you get Firewall to rank 10 it’ll burn purple eheh)
Something like this:
Teleport - Flame shield - Ice Armor - Ice Blades - Blizzard - Meteor
Fire bolt and Firewall enchantments
Picture it: The Ice Spikes would come out of the purple burning fire while meteors drop everywhere and it’s a lucky hit fest with X’Fal as the firebolt dot, blizzard, firewall procs, and meteors all have a good lucky hit chance that can trigger a ring explosion.
But alas, the Meteor shower cooldown trick is tied to a helm, and it can’t win against shako…
I can see a very strong fire build this season… but I’m not giving up Shako for it after all that farming I mean… I might just put BL and Blizzard together instead, then wait to see what new unique and aspect and balance come midseason or in s4
Blizzard is still the safest build I would say for S3. Safest in terms of defense and expectations to perform.

Yep. Zero chance I’m giving up shako for the helm. Zero.
I like the idea of it, but as I said in another thread it should have been a wand. Someone said a focus which is great too. Anything but a helm.
Unless you want to run meteor then the new helm should be bis. It’s likely going to be very good and has great stats. Firewall and meteor enchantments.
Shake is great but for ice spikes not that mandatory I actually like it’s on helm slot instead of giving up an offensive aspect
the idea is nice but its probably not good. since ur giving up a slot for a minor efffect in ur build. for spikes you are already slot starved, and giving up 1-2 more for the meteor dmg, sry that isnt gonna cut it.
Ice spikes isnt using the dmg component of blizzard, so mastery dmg doesnt benefit u as much, since blizz isnt doing much on its own. So that synergy is already doomed to fail.

I messed around with the paragon board, getting both fire legendary nodes on top of the cold vuln node takes about 25 points from where I’m at… that’s my whole last attack speed/conjuration board lol but I could get them, and rely on Esu’s on the amulet for the speed, so maybe I’ll give it a try*
*If they ever change the helm to be a source or wand or dagger or gloves seriously though why helm.
However, pure fire will be nice, firewall instead of blizzad I see no reason to hydra tbh but you could thro that in too, voilaa(1M burning dmg per tic? that’s wishful thinking now…)
that isnt even high, 1m fw dmg was already more then possible with stacking fws. But you could never reach like 4-5m on necro tiks. or bleeding from barbs.
5M tic would be a dream come true since hydra’s health scaling gone fire has been ugh but I see multiple buffs in the notes for fire dot you can easily stack up.
Fact it makes meteor a cooldown and not a spender it opens up to using it on different builds, I think it’s awesome you can now have it on any build and use it as support damage and cc
How about we go based on beta+s1+s2 developer reasoning.
When they buff something they fail to test it properly and it’s been 99% the case for stuff being broken damage.
Now no one made a huge deal out of all the “new” basic skill stuff but with marking monsters and Meteor or Blizzard able to fill a screen fast for marking…. Then the ability for basics to become +200% aoe attacks….
Just saying we can theory craft all day but writing is on the wall the largest buffs came for basic skills it’s now how to use those buffs to break end game. Blizzard or Meteor + Marked gauntlets + Basic skill with crazy +% pew pew.
Why would the devs test it? You got it wrong. We’re the beta testers, and we are supposed to test these stuff.
