Coming from full minion necro that cleared NM100 to BL sorcerer is like a breath of fresh air with the contrast in playstyle and the damage output. It’s great fun being able to continue playing the season with a second character.
Next season, with leaderboards, you probably have a point. For this season though (and the previous ones) I’m cool with them patching the nerfs at the end but during the season it isn’t like 99% of the player base is competing on anything.
I’m not particularly benefiting from BL Sorc although I am playing Sorc this season. I don’t love “forced melee” Sorc builds so I have 2 Lightning builds (both CL) and then working on Blizzard both with and without Hydra
So my take on this whole thing (and yes i’m using the Rogue’s combo points/tibaults “bug” as of now) is that if a build is effective due to a bug, fixing that bug isn’t a nerf… its correcting an issue that shouldn’t have happened in the first place. I have no sources except that we have had 2 patches since the interaction with tibaults and combo points was discovered but i feel that because it hasn’t been fixed combo points is a “sub” resource and since tibaults specifically states “resource” it is an intended interaction. IF it was and intended interaction i’m sure the damage scaling of combo points will change. If it wasn’t then i’m sure we will see it patched out soon enough. but i’m gonna enjoy it while it lasts cause rogue is finally fun. TB is what every other rogue in the game plays and thats no more variety than everyone using an exploited build. its not like variety builds are rampant in the game anyways, exploited or otherwise.
It’s bugged. You guys can search for “Ball Lightning Season 1” on medias and you’ll see it didn’t repeat damage so frequently like this.
Anyhow, BZ are so scared to nerf anything “while it’s still on” again. They will fix it when a season ends as same as what they did Earthen Bulwark.
did you miss the patch prior to season 2 where ball lightning was completely reworked? i mean read the difference in the tool tips from season 1 to season 2. you cant compare the two and say its bugged because it doesnt work like in season 1.
You are absolutely right…the way ITS right now is more than a little concerning for the Future of the Game…what rarely is Being talked about ist the fact that Bugs Not fixed will cause more Bugs in the future…the longer an unfixed Bug can cause havoc the worse IT gets for Future coding…ITS Not about WHO does too much damage, ITS about corrupting the Games Code beyond repair…that is the reason IT needs to get fixed asap…If they want BL to do this Kind of damage they can Always buff IT Afterwards…but trying to sit this one Out ist hillarious and embarassing…
Them stating publicly to BE bugged would make the whole Situation even more hillarious than IT allready is…they would basically damit to Not do their Jobs, cause either they cant or are afraid Out of Gear of the Backslash…both is Killing their allready thin integrity in a Heartbeat…btw there are No opinions in IT Being a Bug…Just Look in the Code, If U got the skills of course, ITS super clear IT IS a Bug…the Interactions between damage, Attack Speed and Ticks ist corrupted (in favor of the Player tbh) causing this Bug…relating to a tooltip ingame AS reference for IT “working as intended” is ignorant and stupid beyond reason… btw many skills dont Work AS the tooltip says, for better or worse …decompose ist bugged AS hell too…
Them Not Testing stuff, Being comically Bad at Math too…on that one WE agree actually…
You pretty much have to have broken builds or some variation thereof, or you’re just spinning your wheels as far as doing the new boss content. Leave it alone till the end of the season, and make another go of it for season 3.
Its literally a bug causing it to do 3x the damage its supposed to.
it literally isnt though
There’s multiple OP and ridiculous builds.
But, here’s a hot take. Yes.
And it’s healthy.
Otherwise this game would be 100% rogues and necros running around 1tapping everything every season and that’s it.
Every season should have a few builds that have Ludacris interactions with the seasonal powers… and after that season they should be more baseline and another should take it’s place. Then people rotate through classes instead of just trolling the same thing every season.
But here’s the thing. If you don’t want to dk that, you just want to play your own class and spec… you still can. And it’s viable.
I will never understand the people who sit around a seasonal sandbox utterly shrinking at the top of their lungs about what the other kids are doing, I’m not saying that’s per se what youa re doing here, since you have a much more balanced tone… but why can’t there be 300m hit hota barbs and BL sorcs running around? Was the game more fun when it was 300m bonespear necros and poison rogues?
It’s a three month seasonal, who cares? Pretty much every spec even frankenspecs can clear t100s, it’s not some massive achievement. Uber Lilith is simply repetition till you learn where not to stand if you are not cheesing… other than the oneshots there’s not much to the fight. Again, not some wild achievement.
So, if people want to run around hulksmashing and slaughtering stuff who cares? How is that a bad thing? Where is the downside? “They will be OP! They will kill stuff quickly! Then they might leave”. I mean, if they kill stuff slowly they will leave too, s1 taught us that. At least if they kill stuff quickly they will be back next season cuz they had fun doing it, instead of quitting and not coming back because their entertainment product was a slow, boring, lifeless slog.
Every league in PoE is a dead league.
Every season in Diablo is a dead season.
Nothing new.
I applaud blizzards approach. Set the table let the guests eat what they like. Dont come mid way and throw chilli in my dinner and say sorry the chef meant that dish to be more spicy. Just better balance the spices next time (season 3) and I’ll keep eating what I like now.
Now if they do not hard break the meta specs after season 2 and implement new builds for S3, we have a big big problem.
Sounds great to me. While it would be nicer if the specs were more closely balance to the point I can play whats fun instead of whats powerful… intentionally nerfing specs I am enjoying will make me quit the game “was having fun, not anymore because they took away the toys” killed the game last season… they had a new release game NO ONE was playing.
What exploits? Item dupes constantly have them turning off trading.
Whats the bug?
I dont think its lazy, I think its finally blizzard listening to the community. I (we or most of us) do not want mid season nerfs. Let us enjoy it have fun… yes we can all make a ball lightning sorc (mines now 74 I will get it to 100 for AoZ) along with my 100 rogue/druid and we can just have fun until they release next season.
S3 better change up how I level (I want to play a rapid fire rogue 1-100 in S3, I haven’t played anything ranged).
Also would be nice to get some group synergy power/buffs, a loot filter and more builds.
In an ARPG, power chasing and feeling godlike after so many hours wasted and spent, is literally the goal of the game.
You don’t like that ? Find other genres. Have fun !
This is ARPG which is more about PVE and less of PVP game or MMO where someone that is too OP can make the game imbalanced
BL Sorc will be tuned down for the next season. No need to get your panties in a twist about the future of the game over this.
That’s the point of seasonal content, its supposed to be ridiculously powerful because that’s fun. If that is not fun to you, play the eternal realm
It’s actually more than that. Per Icy-veins: " In addition, Attack Speed with [![Enhanced Ball Lightning] no longer scales damage down to compensate for faster tick rates. This means DPS can now be increased by up to 3x (10 / 3.33) by increasing the tick rate from the base 3.33 per second to the maximum 10 per second with Attack Speed. Both damage increases result in a total DPS increase of 10x for the Ball Lightning Sorcerer build!"
I played one for a while, was fun. I don’t bother trying to argue with the people hellbent on insisting they intended this, etc. Time will make the argument that I feel is a waste of my time.
With crazy seasonal powers and fotm broken builds? The future looks kind of like bad bosses, timers as end game and wild, wild imbalances.
So basically, it looks like Diablo III but with less colour and unicorns
Last season, the issue wasn’t fixing the bugged builds; it was the lack of communication about the bugs and the silent fixes. This season, there’s a problem of not acknowledging and addressing the issues promptly. Users are left in the dark about when or if the fixes will happen.
