When I hold attack, I keep attacking after I release. The longer I hold, the longer I attack afterwards. It’s like I’m building up a backlog of attacks. For example, if I hold for 2 minutes, I keep attacking for like 8 minutes afterwards. I’ve learned to stop holding attack early on with bosses, so that I’m not attacking forever after they’re dead. Has anyone else had this problem?
These are the only reliable workarounds players have found:
Turn OFF “Hold to Attack”
Settings → Gameplay → Combat → Hold to Attack → OFF
This alone fixes it for most players.
Switch “Attack” to a different key/button
If the button is slightly sticky or drifting, the game will keep reading it as held.
Controller users: check for drift
Even tiny drift on the right trigger (RT/R2) can cause this exact behaviour.
Try another controller if you have one.
PC users: disable keyboard repeat rate overrides
If you use software that changes key repeat speed (Razer, Logitech, Corsair, AutoHotKey), turn it off.
Restart the game
This clears the input buffer completely.
I’m on a PC here. Changing “Skill Toggle Behavior” from “Hold All” to “Toggle All” does seem to stop the problem. But when gaming I actually enjoy feeling the attack so to speak. Not just turning it on and then off at a later point.
I’d love a solution that doesn’t downgrade my personal gameplay experience, but I do very much appreciate all these suggested solutions all the same. I’ve tried all of the applicable solutions listed here plus others I found elsewhere online, but to no avail (other than that first one). I’d welcome continued input and ideas on this issue!
