Buff all the mythic uniques

So they are exciting again. Seeing a purple drop and going “It’s only a…” A purple should always feel good. The stats should make you blush. Like oh mmmyyyyyy…

they are strong enough. What id agree with is that some could use small twerks to give them more of a distinctive role.

Which ones do you use? Is Andarial’s visage strong? I just had one drop.

I’m only using 2 next season.

it was strong til s6 and the changes to its unique effect. Hence why i said, i for sure see the need for some small reworks on them to give them a more destinctive role. (or remove them from the mythic pool and tune them down to regular unique level.)

I use Shako, Heir of perdition, Shroud of false death, Tyraels might, doombringer, ring of starless skies.

Not all in one build obviously. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

*opens book of flash back memory *

I remember, the Lycander spear was the 1st Mythic Unique I ever got.

When it dropped, I didn’t know what it was, I didn’t even like the look, it wasn’t what I was looking for when I was farming Duriel.

But when one of the people in my group saw what I had he went crazy and told me that I needed to Keep it or Use it.

I didn’t want to at first because I was using a cool looking wand.

but as soon as I put that spear in my hand and I saw it GLOW like that I was like…

(( :star_struck: )) Litterally star struck. I changed my color scheme and appearance just to match that god like item. Even the Next season I sought after it.

This was around season 2. I got it again season 3…Oddly enough as much as I play sorcerer I never got that weapon again… and it’s power became obsolete anyway. Just like the SHRINES it was a fall from grace item…

I liked it when we still had the gauntlet

No way, mythics are already buffed enough…

There are only 3-4 potentially useful Mythics. The rest are instant salvage. Not sure how that’s buffed enough.

The problem is that Mythics have to be generic enough to be usable on multiple classes.

With D4, there’s only a few generic things

  • Skills
  • Resources
  • Damage
  • Survivability
  • Utility

Skills really only operate on univeral or semi-universal (like all Defensive) types.

Resources either boils down to Cooldown, Generation, or Cost Reduction.

Damage is self-explanatory

Survivability you have Armor, Resists, Damage Reduction, or Life

Utility are things like Movement or Thorns

That’s it. That’s all they really offer. Any Mythic Power offering Survival or Utility almost immediately becomes garbage due to game design.

D4 doesn’t reward survival, so there goes Selig. Utility like get random Shrine from Lycander is out, too.

Even the Glaive that only gets used by one class is quite generic. That power and stats could be used on any class, if it weren’t for being a Glaive.

And every Unique (including Mythic Unique) comes at the opportunity cost of 2 Tempers and player choice of Aspect.

Melted heart of selling is only worth the spark that you get for breaking it down. Doombringer is only good for levelling an alt, but it’s easier to farm 30 whisper caches and open them all and hit level 60 in under 5 minutes. The 2H polearm and staff they introduced with the expansion are weaker than legendary and unique drops you get while playing the game.

Coveted items are Shroud, Perdition and Starless skies. Shako has become niche, grandfather even more niche and Tyraels is why you run until you get shroud.

Indeed, and i can live in S7 T4 with that 1GA gear.
If i made 200 runs all ubers in S7, it’s already too much…
So i feel no need to do them…

hey, that makes two of us! i had that moment too. spear of lycander was my priority mythic back then. i liked its attack speed since it outperformed a wand even though it’s a staff.

Instead of dialing itemization up, they should probably bring it down a notch

What do I mean by that ?

  • Only ~15% are temperable
  • Only ~15% are socketable
  • Rest go back to the old form
  • Remove a few/several more generic Aspects, tone them down and add them in the baseline affix pool (such as extra damage based on Resource, or extra damage while channeling)
  • Only 1 GA per non-Blue (Blue items can roll a double GA, not only on lvl60 but even earlier)
  • Improve versatility by adding a couple variants on the inherent affix roll

Done

That way people will both be engaged with items but not necessarily overwhelmed by reading all the time the Aspects rolled on them, and not vast majority of items in the inventory would be Legendaries, i.e. with aspect to read on them

Yep. Mythics are nothing more than show pieces to me and why I dont farm them. The only uniques I farm are ones specific to my build. Ill use a grandfather for my barb because of the four weapon slots, but my necro only uses ring of starless skies. If I get anything else, which is rare, I just put them in stash and dupes get salvaged. The aspects, tempers and MW are far more valuable to me.

Shroud of false death is so wildly OP that it’s worth it on any build. +1 to all passives is insane with extra damage and DR modifiers. Throw in extra utility and it’s why the item is so coveted and people complain about the legendary rune drops being too rare to craft it themselves.

Interesting. If I happen upon one Ill check it out.

It’s a nice bump, but it for sure needs to be amped up.

It’s hilarious because NOBODY uses it for the aspect, but literally everyone is using it haha
