I used to just play with the minimap open all the time. It really sucks that you can’t move around while the map is open.

This is a huge surprise for me and everyone I know playing the game. The mini map overlay with an opacity slider is as Diablo as Deckard Cain. It’s part of the game’s DNA and should be brought back for launch. It’s beyond shocking that they didn’t develop or include this…
Everyone wants this. I think the server issues on Friday overshadowed this huge error, and I’m guessing some people are just assuming they’ll add it in for launch. We need to speak up on this though.

Same, please bring it back, i constantly have to tab then untab just to see if i am going the right direction, would be great if we had that transparent minimap in the center feature, and its more annoying that you cant move while the map is open lol…

Probably removed because Blizzard thinks console players can’t visually handle a map overlay. Or all buttons on the controllers are already in use, so they couldn’t assign another one for turning the overlay on/off
