One shotting world bosses in Tier 4?
The World boss was dead before I could hit my 2nd shout from my barbarian. I assume the first shout I did simply covered the timespan of the animation the bone spear needed to be casted.
People left and right were just awe struck on what just happened and a necro told us he used bone spear with 18k+ Atk power.

World boss isn’t exactly hard. they die in seconds… trade off for no mobility - we give him damage

You think its fine for a skill to do so much damage that it one shots a world boss in Tier 4 that is meant to be a fight consisting of 20+ people?

is that the biggest problem you’ve found in this game? lucky you - who cares

It’s not just Bone Spear, there are a few end game builds that will pump out damage. Werenado druid can down Azshava solo in under 10 seconds.
I think the world bosses are under tuned with the intent of appeasing more casual players that just want to experience the content without having to min/max a build.
There’s no real win. You either nerf a class that doesn’t need a nerf or buff a boss and exclude a large portion of the playerbase.

Yep dead right.
Casuals be like “OOO WEEEE WE GONNA HAVE A BIG SCARY FIGHT AGAINST BIG SCARY MONSTER”
Reality is it’s easy and drops no loot lol

If you watch some necro uber lilith kills… its indeed way too strong.

Thank you…
Look, Im not saying KobiaN and Naamtar are wrong. I agree with them… The world bosses are under tuned, meant for casual players, ect…
But overall, Bone spear should not be “This” strong. I could also argue some other things in the game and some builds are absolutely broken beyond belief, but a skill (Any skill) should never be so strong that it Vaporizes Planets with one cast.
And I know its not just bone spear, there is a setup. But its not like the setup has to be some major gamble or pure luck.

Yeh it will get nerfed no doubt.
I’d just rather see them focusing on bringing other builds up to snuff so there is more build diversity, and buffing the content so that the pinnacle encounters are difficult; but the bulk content can be steam rolled.
That’s kind of what aRPGs are about, power fantasy, mindlessly farming gear with a pinnacle encounter in mind that you’re building around.
Right now there’s like 3 viable builds per class (rip Barbarian); a lot of the skills in the tree are just not useable at all. It needs to be fixed instead of focusing on the top .1% of the playerbase that’s churning out metas.
That top .1% will just find the next OP thing when the current is nerfed. The majority of the playerbase wants to tinker around with build diversity that isn’t there right now.

I 100% agree. This is one of the major current problems with Diablo 4. I do not want to feel like I cant play a Ranged Rogue and HAVE to go twisting blades in order to do end game content. I should not feel like Ice Shards Sorc is the only way to play vs using Frozen Orb…
The problem is, these differences arnt small, they are the size of canyons and separates the playerbase into 2 categories. The ones who looked up the 1% viable end game builds, and the rest.

Bone just gets 1 or 2 more multipliers than the other builds. That is the only difference. Diablo 4 uses the same systems that they used to balanced Diablo 3. The best way to imagine it is that bone has their 6th set piece bonus while every other class is stuck at 2 or 4. They actually need to tweak numbers and put everyone on even footing. If they remove bones multipliers, it just makes it tedious and bad along with bone spirit. Idk if making shadowblight Corpse explosion the only end game build, a desirable outcome here.
Diablo 4 is all about Additive Damage. Vulnerable and Crit provide the highest scaling damage. You tack on to that specific Class or Skill bonuses that are also additive and Ta-Da! Overpowered (no pun intended).
The trick with Diablo 4 is simply finding what is Additive vs Multiplicative. Anything Additive will be incredibly valuable while anything Multiplicative has diminishing returns (sort of like the cluster that are Magic Resists and Intelligence).
Necro Bone Spear is 100% Crit and 100% Vulnerable to the entire screen guaranteed. Pile on more Additive Damage and it scales better than almost anything else there is. While Barbarian has some of that, mostly the numbers being put out by streamers were simply due to glitches and Additive mechanics. Necro and Druid it is baked into the Classes.
Blizzard thought they were being clever by adding all of these damage sources and it would make itemization interesting, but it isn’t. Instead of stacking one thing, you just grab a little from each bucket and stack Vulnerable and Crit. It doesn’t really even matter what class you are, it is the same thing. Whatever does these things most effectively, is Meta.

I’m surprised people are complaining about spear and not spirit. Spirit has much higher damage potential. It’s not as spammable, but you can wipe out full packs / bosses with it, moreso than spear

When barbs did that with rupture they got nerfed in matter of minutes. Blizzard disabled legendary power to avoid that. Other classes one shotting WB or killing uber lilith in few minutes is fine…

You are mixing up Additive and Multiplicative.

Bone Spear’s dmg is fine. It’s the multipliers that affect it that are problematic.
bone spear is working as intended. Necro has low mobility in trade off for high burst dmg. Bone spear was even buffed at launch because it wasn’t doing the dmg the devs want it to for the skill to work properly.
Also, Bone spear is kind of like a skill shot in a sense, it should do massive dmg, and cannot be spammed as it cost a lot of essence. quit cryin
You mean those necros with 200% movespeed have no mobility? like…every other class? With 4 charge implicit boots? Those necros?
Necro has just as much mobility as druids. I don’t see druids oneshotting.
