I have seen people complain they do 150 lair bosses without having a Belial ambush. I am here to tell you that multiple times I have had him spawn for me 2 times in a row. Does that make sense? No.
Just like it doesn’t make sense when I have 35% chance to upgrade a glyph and it upgrades all 5 times.
Then I have a 45% chance to upgrade a glyph and it upgrades 0 times.
Tempering? Lets not get ourselves started. 4x in a row of the same roll then some other roll and you didn’t get the roll you wanted. So you use scroll of re-tempering and you get the roll you wanted instantly.
It’s just RNG guys! It’s random! There are no suspiciously consistent patterns!

That seems like some long odds (didn’t do the math). I assume they haven’t done the urn yet, but still. Wonder if they will bring their discussions here.
like yesterday or the day before, cant remember exactly when, but i failed 5 glyph upgrades in a row with 70%.
I guess that 30% to fail each attempt was strong with that one.
Rng sucks when its not in your favor, but it gives dopamine when you get what you want.
having a flat system for some things with no rng is cool, but your brain think its way cooler when you hit the rng =)
I’ve seen recurring patterns every season that suggest the math percentages shown are inaccurate.
It can be true, it can be false.
Some things like masterworking has weighting as far as i know.
A lot of complaints can be based off “a bad lottery ticket”.
such as “i killed 100 belial, no mythic drop”
For a 2% drop or what it is, this may very well happen to all of us.
and for the 150 boss kills and no spawn, was that with or without opening the chest after killing the boss.
If you did not do it yourself, can you believe they did it ?
there is always a chance people are trolling/lying/exaggerating
That is EXACTLY what rng is.
rng doesnt care what your prior results were.
I’m saying I’ve noticed specific patterns which would suggest Blizzard RNG does in fact care.
It’s more likely that it’s just badly done.
It FEELS like i’m more likely to miss a 98% chance of success, than to hit a 2% chance of success.
Meanwhile, the number of times that i miss a 70% or 80% chance of success seems suspicious… especially when it’s 3-4 times consecutively.
Diablo 4 definitely generates numbers. It’s not very random. Far too often, it generates the same number or a very close number. It occasionally has a random chance to generate a number that seems random enough.

Probability does though. The RNG in this game is not so much RNG. For instance, tempering. Tons of people on this forum have talked about getting the same roll every time. The probability of that happening to one person is pretty low. Especially multiple times.
It’s still computer RNG but it’s either badly written code or done on purpose. It’s not even close to real RNG. Imagine going to a roulette table and watching it hit a specific number a few times in a row. Then watching it do that multiple times. Everyone in the casino would call that table dirty and demand an audit.

exactly what im refering to. we are talking about a BIAS there. no offense, but what you described is exactly what RNG is.
but hey, im not judging you if you want to prove faults in blizzard formular for that matter, but then we need bigger sample sizes.
As i said, your next masterworking roll, you next tempering etc etc doesnt depend on your last result. the more we talk about “weighted” rng the more it becomes clear that some want exactly that. As long as it it serves them of course.
No we can discuss about how well rng can be coded, but where will this lead to? Blizzard trying to increase game time because they are evil? Even right now, d4 is the easiest arpg on the market you know ^^
btw, i added you recently, because you thread gpt removed. glad you got no penalty there.
Most loot based games use P-RNG. Pseudorandom Number Generator. From my understanding it’s the same as RNG but includes coding to “help prevent” consecutive duplicate rolls. Another game I play had an issue with this that was causing a definitive pattern that was basically making certain perk combos on certain items basically impossible to obtain. They “fixed” it but did they really? Either way, I have had the same temper roll 7 consecutive times and brick an item and I’ve also gotten perfect tempers on my first 2 attempts, both of which have only happened once. Either way, I just play the game and move on.
I will use the example of rolling damage to distant enemies 4 times then rolling damage to crowd controlled enemies.
Use the scroll of re-tempering and get the roll I wanted instantly on the first roll.
Multiple times, multiple seasons in a row. Very consistently.
Somehow this made sense to me.

You keep telling yourself that.
Hitting the same temper 12 times in a row with over a dozen items in a few months is anything but RNG.
Rerolling at the occultist and the same 2 affixes hit 90% of the time is anything but RNG.
Minion necro drops mostly blood aspects and bone necro drops mostly minion aspects is anything but RNG.
But whatever lets you sleep at night.
I’m literally saying the same thing as you. It’s why I made the thread.
I was once playing in Excel, simulating a 10% chance of something happening.
I saw many times 60 failed attempts in a row… and one 80.
