One question. Does Blizzard skill is from Damage Over Time genre? I don"t know which kind of gem should I put into socket of my 2-handed Staff. I use Amethyst but is it OK?
probably not being that it crits.
Blizzard, Blight and BCE are in fact dots. It says it right in the tooltip.

The damage of Blizzard is indeed a dot and casting multiple Blizzard’s does cause this damage over time to stack, however, Blizzard’s damage isn’t very good. The true damage of Blizzard comes from the synergy of Aspects and enchants.

It deals DoT damage, you might be thinking when you have Glacial Aspect which procs ice spikes, it’s the one that crits and does actual damage.
