Blizzard President Says Diablo 5 will not be a long wait

Yeah, that comment really makes me wonder if they plan to have Diablo 5 actually be Diablo 3.5 and to then do a Diablo 2.5 and so on, the way Modern Warfare and the non-MW titles swapped off in CoD.

Yes. I would highly recommend a long BETA test before launch. Any live service game should do this. There is only so much that can be tested internally and things start going out of whack when you add hundreds of players online at one time.

Yes… let’s release a Diablo game every 6 month for a price of 100 bucks !!

Diablo 5 is dumb when you can have a persistence world with D4.

Its a need to change the upper management first or the whole corporate head as the designers and project leads not the ones more focused on the cash shop than releasing and fixing buggy games

I am not sure how I feel about this. They pushed out this cash grab in 10 years. I can only imagine how it will be with less time. Don’t get me wrong. The PoE team probably could have made this game in 6 months with the budget and resources blizzard has. But, D4 isn’t even a finished product yet and he is talking less development cycle? He must of had some of those Chinese magic mushrooms everyone is talking about today.

We’ll need to “wait and see”

The statement of not needing to wait as long for new installments is a bit of a question mark because we don’t know what Ybarra (sp?) is counting from.

If, say, RoS is the last installment he is referring to prior to D4 then D5 could still be 15 years away theoretically. We know 2 expansions are planned and being worked on for D4 in the very least and, to me, this game seems like it wants to have a longer expansion timeframe than just 2.

I am honestly not reading much into this with the timeframe of “installments” not being very defined imo

The audacity of these incompetent pieces of trash to announce something like D5. Unreal

The man doesn’t even know if he will have a job after the takeover. It’s a very bold statement.

No games should take that long anymore. AI assistance is going to make it possible to churn out new games every month if they want. Fully voice acted, even. As to quality tho… Will anyone want to actually play them?

This is actually a huge spit in the face even to current D4 player’s and telling us they don’t care about us as consumers or the current game

This is scary, but correct. I bet AI couldn’t have done any worse than DI or D4 though.

Yeah, like all technological progress, the good will come with the bad. But the good will be amazing. Imagine games that are different every time you play them. A new expansion every week. Some one will do it first. And it will be amazing.

It won’t be Blizzard tho.

When was the last time you heard Rod say anything? I think the colonoscopy was his last public relations speech.

Huh, I didn’t want to believe they will move to the CoD model and release another Diablo game every (few) year(s), but guess here we are…
It makes sense now that they don’t even make cinematics between acts.

Yeah, i dont know why everyone is cheering. They will prob rotate D3 and D4 in bi-yearly cycles wanting people to drop $70 annually on a “new game”

It will be black ops/mwf but with diablo.

A decade of development is actually uncommon. I don’t remember when that trend started, maybe when devs started to make AAA titles? D2 took how many years to make? 2-3 years?
