It seems like most Eternal players I talk to are either thinking about quitting entirely or are waiting for Blizzard to find a solution before they ever return.
After all, what’s the point of having an Eternal realm if your progress doesn’t count? The whole appeal of Eternal should be the sense of lasting achievement and progression.

hopefully they are seeing the passion eternal players have towards D4 and it’s eternal realm.
cheers from a seasonal player

The way the RNG slot machine has been implemented into Diablo 4 for the itemization and boss-farming as of late was masterful in the past 2 seasons and works extremely well on gamers like myself. I have to say they did a bang-up job revving up that dopamine rush in most of us.
Here lies the problem:
The House always wins, but in the small cases it does not, it doesn’t take away your prize earnings every 2-3 months. Or else, who’s going to show up to play the slot machine?
They could make a decision at this fork and preserve item integrity for Eternity Realm players or delete the realm all-together to prevent future misunderstandings.

Or eternal realm players could understand that the pinacle items in season N are not going to be the pinacle items in season N+1, and so the idea that the value of eternal play is based on whether or not you have completed the loot chase is a silly one.

I think the eternal players are beginning understanding it and the dev update cycles that are being pushed into eternal, but I can only assume this.
There is no point for Eternal players to stay and keep playing Eternal real if they main concept of playing Eternal is inexistant at the moment.

…to continue progressing the same characters and account-wide gold, mats, items, etc., eternally. A stat squish and the introduction of new higher tiers of stuff doesn’t take away the main concept of eternal.

It is hilarious to see… What exactly eternal players want?
Never ever add new items? Bcs it would make their items obsolite? Or upgrade your old items to new item… So other party can cry they wanted legacy items?
Well shame on you eternal players, you should never bought D4.

Well I can just say your view is silly as well. Noone is arguing against the idea of another pinnacle item emerging as a better pinnacle item in season N+1. For example the Fractured Winterglass beat out many pinnacle amulets. They’re protesting having to min max the same item the same way— I really don’t understand where your conviction comes from. Did I miss something in Diablo Sunday school?

100% Agree . Very Well said…
Shame on people for not wanting to repeat the same exact thing?
I disagree. It’s a W when Seasonal players don’t have to redo Lilith Alters. I’d rather go back in time and do Algebra homework.
It is a W when Seasonal players don’t need to repeat the campaign for the 10+ time. I’d rather do on-boarding orientation videos for work.
It’s a W when Seasonal players don’t need to reset the cave for a tormented boss. Whoever disagrees with this comment is just clinically insane.
Aren’t all of this the result of the player-base crying?
Or is it shame on them too? Or is it QOL changes?

What exactly? And be clear with that. Lets pretend for a while that Blizzard care about Eternal, what they should do?
D4 was marketed as heavy seassonal game, with eternal realm to.
That means you will preserve your classes, materials and items. They fulfilled this promise.
Your examples are whole different things, nonreleavant at all.
I can only speculate but it seems like they want a non-early access beta-state stable realm. I keep seeing “live service” being “abused” as an excuse. my opinion.

I disagree, my examples are changes made so people don’t have to repeat the same thing. Ie. Farm the same items and tempers.
It’s another thing if the new Meta build requires different affixes and tempers.

Now that I spent a week with it-
It’s just them copying a system from WoW that their most vocal (and often the pinnacle of toxic) community, the M+ keystoners enjoy. They apparently love re-farming the same gear season after season.

It doesn’t even concern them as they don’t play on Eternal Realm and they’re religious about it.

Totally disagree.
There is no purpose for Eternal realm right now.
Maybe I missed something, but your items will be removed post DLC?
It’s the same way over there. I mean there are a couple of slight differences but the similarities are downright unarguable.
I’d say it is the same group but there was a topic over there about their opinions on this game. To WoW’s credit-It looks like you don’t have to refarm at all whereas there is no similar solution here.
I totally get it, I played seasonal but I have all 3 versions of melted heart. Who really wants to go farm that same unique again on a server for people that want to 100% perfect their character?
