you’re right, waypoints should be removed as well, the horse works perfectly fine after all
sry but just one question:
How will overlay map save this godawfull game?
Boot lickers got to lick. Sad.
So true. Sounds like a poem in the making. ![]()
It won’t, but any QoL feature that wasn’t in the game previously would help further improve it.
Yes I am demanding it. It benefits many players and the players who do not want it suffer no disadvantage.
Yet here we are 2 months in and we dont have it.
Blizzard should be shamed for that. Definitely. They spend much time rotating their expensive consmetic store and launching a super weak first season but cant reassure players an overlay map is in the works? I wont play HC without one so its more frustrating for me.
My atittude towars blizzard isnt the same as my atittude toward other randos on the forum though. People can have their own opinion or disagree, but I dont think it makes blizzard immune to heavy criticism for their lack of a massively requested QoL feature.
And the reasons for needing one are pretty clear to most people
-easier on the eyes seeing the action, not staring at the corner of a 27 inch screen
-easier to kite mobs and plan your path in a dungeon so you dont run into walls or dead ends
-faster dungeon running overall
So yes, Blizzard should HURRY UP with it, or they should have delayed the launch to allow more time for endgame content and proper QoL features. Im not here to sugarcoat it.
Gotta say, overlay map is pretty low on the things they need to prioritize to fix the game.
Overlay map isn’t gonna make me play the game.
It wont, it would just be easier and much faster to implement than all of the endgame content stuff theyre likely also coming up with and working on.
Agreed, I’ve done my fair share of shaming them plenty. I’ve asked many times why certain features aren’t in the game, and why now all of a sudden QoL features that should’ve been in since launch are finally making their way to the game, as if it was never even a thought to begin with.
Also agree completely. There have been many QoL suggestions on this forum that feel as if they’re being ignored completely. The lack of communication is hurting more then helping.
Also completely agree.
I will say I like this post more so then your original post. It’s well thought out, articulate, and cohesive.
So I understand the demand, bare with me a second I’m going to play devil’s advocate. Now I’m not defending Blizzard at all, but have you ever worked in customer service at all? Fast food, Retail, Uber Driver, etc.
In case you haven’t I’ll give you a scenario, customer is arguing with you about their demands, and essentially yelling at you to hurry it up, rightfully so, you screwed up. However as the person on the receiving end, you see a Karen, flat out just some one who wants to complain because they can’t get what they want and as of the moment, you can’t do anything about it. So you let them rant, they get it all out, and they leave because you can’t do anything about it at this very moment, regardless of how much they yell at you.
This is Blizzard, they’ve got a million angry voices just screaming at them, making demands, and their initial thought is to just ignore it, what else can they do? Sure they’ll make changes here and there, but they’ve been yelled at so much they’re deaf to the noise at this point. There’s a reason the CM rarely posts on these boards.
Again not defending Blizzard, just telling it how it is. Blizzard put themselves in this position to be fair though.
I’m not sure a map overlay of the open world would be very impressive with the general lack of walls.
Your parents should’ve told you ‘no’ a lot more often…
Ultra low-IQ take. Like, almost non-existent synapse synergies.
I have a feeling the map wont be fixed for a long while. It still doesn’t even show correct player locations. Next time your friend dies in a dungeon look at the map icon and compare it to where their body actually is. The entire world map needs to be redone in a tile format like the original diablo games. Terrain mesh needs to be flattened and collision boxes remade to be simple geometric shapes so that you don’t get stuck on blades of grass when you’re riding your horse. That’s the problem with being lazy and auto generating collision boxes directly from mesh.
Necro post craves fresh brainz!

That being said, an overlay would be nice.
they recently talked about it and don’t want everyone to look at lines and icons. Because yes, even as an option everyone would use it because it’d be a more efficient way to play. It’s as if you added toilets as an option. Curently everyone takes a dump in the same garden while looking at the animals and the nice greenery, wiping with leaves, but if toilets were an option everyone would use them to enjoy toilet paper but they would end up only looking at that grey wall in front of them. Let them enjoy nature, ban toilets.
He loves to necro dead threads.
please, we really need a map overlay to improve visabilty of the map, and stop the neck cramping from occuring by staring at the top right corner of screen. the game looks great i would like to be able to focus on the game with this overlay map, so that i may stop staring at the top right corner of screen ![]()
this accessability function would help greatly
In my opinion it is better that it is not there, point 1 it is not necessarily the case that the simplest path is always the best, point 2 the map in reality should rightly be opened for consultation. I see the overlay map as more of a Cyberpunk 2077 thing (although it is present in many games including The Witcher).
But I don’t know, this fact of having to open the map has its charm, and then in the middle of the battle you would consult the map?!?
Can someone please explain to me how both “we need a map overlay to play because it’s a must have” and “dungeons, pit, open world, and all content is the same every time and is boring” can possibly be true at the same time?
Either everything is repetitive and the same so you can memorize it and be completely fine or you can’t understand how to run through the exact same content over and over. They are not exclusive concepts and people need to make up their minds which part they want to complain about.
Also, overlays are pointless in this game. 98% of the time the areas you play in don’t change at all. Even NMD is just reused layouts.
an ARPG without an overlay map is just bad design at this point
but the camera zoom is so shallow that an overlay map would take up the entire screen, so who knows what they’ll do
