Right now it’s not uncommon to see builds deal trillions of damage, some dealing nearly a quadrillion damage. There is simply no reason for this level of damage to exist.
Non-meta builds wouldn’t feel so bad if they weren’t in competition with builds hitting for 1T damage with similar gear. Yes, yes I know it’s a “single player game” and “how does someone else’s build affect mine”. In short, it doesn’t but for the overall health of the game some changes should be made.
It would be nice to group with players who aren’t playing the same 2-3 builds every single time. I think I’ve seen a single rogue so far who wasn’t playing death trap. Every barbarian I’ve seen save for one is doing a minion build. Necromancers at least have blood wave and bone spear to choose from, but the game needs some diversity. The only way to reach that without breaking the game (i.e. every build deals 100T) is to nerf.
You’ll probably get some jokes and hateful responses to your opinion/feedback in a few moments. But don’t worry. They’re just trolls who don’t understand that this kind of balance will make Diablo 4 a better and more solid game.
Do a soft-cap and then rebalance around strategy. Stop monster scaling at some point (let’s say Pit80 for the sake of argument) and add them traits to be harder. Same thing 8 seasons already tbh, same issues
There’s no reason why Boss HP should outstand everything else by a factor of thousands either
Just as there’s no reason for DPS of a single hit to go beyond 7 digits IMO… The shorter the range and the lesser the numbers, the easier to execute
Asking Blizzard to put any effort into balance is like asking a kid to clean his room. He’ll say “Yes mom.” and do nothing. Or pick up 1 toy or food wrapper. Lazy good for nothings.
You aren’t kids Blizzard. You’re probably all like 40.
Nerfing all builds to garbage class won’t fix the issue of everyone playing the same build. People will still play the best build they can. All it will accomplish is having more people quit because the majority don’t want to play garbage tier builds.
I disagree, I think people would play whatever they find most fun if every build is within + or - 20% of each other. Meaning a meta build would deal on average 30-40% more than a non-meta build. That is very achievable, just look at WoW
However, in order for this to work, the higher end of damage needs to be brought down a lot, from say 1000T to around 200B (You can still blast all content with that much damage)
One extreme or the other needs to not be the mentality. God mode builds or garbage can builds. We need a middle ground for all builds. It should not feel like different builds are literally playing on different torment levels than each other. When they are in the same torment.
Blizzard needs to put in real work. You have job. You show up for it and you do work. “Hey guys, Berserk collab!”
Fair enough, I thought you were just talking nerfing the top builds down to the rest of the builds. I missed the part about buffing all the other builds.
Nah, I don’t think meta builds should be doing similar damage to non-meta. They should definitely be stronger as this keeps the game fresh with flavor of the month builds, but right now the disparity (fully geared shred dealing 20b crits vs fully geared lightning spear dealing 1000T crits) is a bit too much.
The game would be eternally fresh if you could play whatever build you want. Technically you always can. But there are literally useless unique items in the game because no builds support the skills they are meant to buff. An Overkill mace drops and you insta salvage it. The game likes dropping 3GA Overkill maces.
Why do I feel the need to respond to posts like this… No that’s not what I’m asking for. These so called “trash-can players” will likely be stuck in T2 or T3 no matter what build they play.
What I’m essentially asking for is an even playing field for most builds, so that meta and non-meta are both still somewhat competitive. And if you must know… I’m a P240 shred druid able to solo all content on T4 save extremely high pits (90+)
