Blizz should consider change most % modifiers with flat stats

So first expansion is here. the game release over 1,5 years ago.

One could assume there is some form of balance after this time. However it is actualy a mess, even more then on release. They even managed to make a stat squish while at the same time blow the numbers up to space, quiet literal those number are astronomical.

I don’t wanna bonk someone head or so, no hard feelings. I don’t exactly know why, but it is obvious that blizz is not able to balance this game. I think it is too complex for them to use all these % modifiers correctly.

There is an easy solution. FLAT Numbers. Instead of having multiple layers of %dmg modifiers affecting each other, why not make it simple. Sometimes simple is good.

You cannot go astronomical with flat numbers unless you use astronomical numbers as raw material.

So why don’t we go back to stuff like.

This and that skill does + 50 ice dmg.
This and that skill deals + 100 physical dmg vs close targets.

We would also not need calculators to see if an item is a dmg improvment.

Yeah, I’d like the whole system to be reworked. (Thought it won’t happen)
In D1 damage would range from few points to few hundred.
In D2 it was up to thousands, maybe over 10k for most powerful builds (which seemed ridiculous at the time).
And that’s how most CRPGS succesfully functioned for years.
It was D3 that brought this madness AFAIK.
Stacks of multipliers upon multipliers will always be prone to exponential runaway.
There’s no way to balance this.

Correct, but it was actualy D3 RoS with Loot 2.0. Before that D3 was actualy rather tame in the numbers department.

D4 just has so much unecessary stuff bloating everything.

And then you have all those redicilous stupid things. Like the barbarian passiv with 3% dmg against close targets. So you can set 3 skillpoints to get 9% dmg against close targets.

Well great, so my bucket that is by now filled with 63058% dmg multiplier will now get an aditional 9%. Well thank god for this meaningful passiv.

There is so much broken in this game it is redicious. Many items miss there mark cause of it. Got a helmet that boosts Berserker dmg by 150%. Sounds great? yeah. well actualy no.

Cause those are just again 150% in a bucket that is already full of thousands if not ten thousands of dmg.

So an uniqued that was desinged to boos berserk dmg is actualy pointless. Everything is so pointless in this game.
